The headlines reflect the awful truth real Christians always expected. President Barack Obama is not who he says he is. And he probably isn’t who many Americans say he is--namely the anti-Christ. However, his actions, tactics, and values are absolutely anti-Christ!
Passing the major health care legislation without real open debate, without allowing the country to see its contents, or for that matter even Congress to know what it contained, was simply an out and out lie and ruse played on America.
We found out that there is no such thing as a pro-life democrat. Indeed Obama lied about the abortion aspects of this economy crippling law going so far as to sign a meaningless executive order.
The treatment of our only Mideast ally Israel by Obama and Secretary Clinton shows utter contempt by our Muslim leader and his lackey administration. The vast majority of Americans support Israel and its claim to Jerusalem. A Christian president--even an agnostic who understands Israel’s true history, would not brow beat, belittle, and threaten a prime minister or try to dictate policy to a sovereign nation!
We know that in the coming months the Community Organizer in Chief will use every threat, every bribe, and every unconstitutional tactic to further socialize America. Obama will try to give illegal aliens a free pass so as to gain 12 million voters for his party, and count on America’s economic malaise to lull opponents into forgetting the Chicago style political pranks come November.
Recess appointments? Sure. Just blame the Republicans for not allowing the government to move forward. Yet another broken promise to add to the ever growing heap of corruption. Even the liberals are astonished at how many u-turns Obama has made, how many total reversals of campaign cookies have crumbled under the reality of a man who we know so little about, save for his obvious lack of ethics and love of Marxism.
Never before has an administration been so eager to pass legislation that is contrary to the will of the people and the intent of the constitution. And to count it as a victory for America as the republic sinks deeper and deeper into a sea of red ink.
People who know me and are Christian political moderates (there really are no such creatures) tell me that as a pastor I should honor Obama and submit to his authority. To that I say NEVER.
I will submit only to the sovereignty of Jesus Christ. Because I know the TRUTH I do not have to obey those who would act contrary to God’s laws. I don’t have to follow a liar. I don’t bow to a baby killer. I do not need to stand idly by while my God-given rights are being ripped apart by a government shredder. As a Christian I do not have to sit passively while terrorists are coddled. As one who knows the one true God I don’t have to respect Islam - a false and dangerous religion - while politically correct government officials elevate and revere and protect it beyond my beloved Christian faith. I don’t have to be quiet in the pulpit in speaking the truth about the abomination of homosexuality. And I will not be still when I hear any president misuse Scripture to try and score political points.
Those who would point to Jesus and say he was loving and meek and mild mannered have never read His words in the Gospels. He preached repentance. He called sin for what it is-- not a weakness, not a mistake, but SIN. He called the Pharisees and Sadducees snakes, vipers, and hypocrites. They deserved those monikers, and the same can be said today of elected officials of either political party that lie to gain public office and proceed to enact ungodly laws that erode our inalienable rights.
As a pastor I will preach Christ and Him crucified to the lost. But to the church I will preach the liberty that is in Christ and will use the opportunity to call out those entrusted with representing us in government when they lie, cheat, steal, or otherwise disregard the truth.
Should a Christian be quiet in the face of the destruction of the family by Hollywood and the MSM? Should we “tolerate” perversion, sin, and idolatry by cocooning in our worship centers? Do we shut up while militant factions in the minority redefine the institution of marriage?
God help us if we allow the so called power brokers in Washington to censor us. God forgive us if we do nothing while people whose consciences have been seared and whose god is “self” and who worship at the altar of greed and hedonism are allowed to rewrite history.
It is time Christians, who know they are not citizens of this world, to realize that they must still participate in this world. Can you imagine if Martin Luther had never confronted the distortions of the Catholic Church? What if the heroes of the Reformation had not faced death to get God’s word to the common man? America was founded on Judeo-Christian principles stemming from the Holy Bible so that no king, other than the King of Kings, would rule over her.
There are times when we face persecution and the blood of the martyrs is the seed of the church. And there are times when we need to stand our ground for the truth and not be silent. We are called to be the shining lights and the voice of truth. We aren’t supposed to be passive in our faith-- but be the salt of the earth.
I challenge all true believers in Christ to revisit His words. Let the Holy Spirit speak to you about your responsibility as a people so blessed to possess the truth and inhabit this God-given land.
