Sen. Harry Reid has a dandy idea: force his troops in the United States Senate to pass a bill - The American Power Act (APA) – by July that will skyrocket your electric bills, wreck an already staggering economy drive jobs overseas and cause more unemployment in the midst of a depression, all in the name of preventing the planet from getting spit roasted by the phantom threat of global warming.

According to the Heritage Foundation “The 987-page American Power Act (APA) aims to reduce 2005 levels of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 80 percent by 2050, the same target that the House version passed last year.” Let’s get this straight right from the beginning. The global warming alarm is bogus – as bogus as the widely exhibited faked photo of a polar bear in distress. Whatever warming the planet experienced stopped in the late 90s and the climate has been cooling – sometimes spectacularly - since the turn of the century. Way back In 1997 l wrote an 8 part series for my Wednesday on the Web – The Iceman Cometh In that series I showed how false was the idea that the planet was warming and most but not all of what I wrote remains valid today. In the first chapter I described the true nature of the global warming movement as a major step towards creating a world socialist order overseen by the United Nations whose International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) was the driving engine pushing the global warming hoax. As the Heritage Foundation notes “Adding to the public’s uncertainty is the controversy surrounding the validity of global warming concerns. Leaked e-mails from the University of East Anglia’s Climate Research Unit revealed alleged conspiracy, exaggerated data, possibly illegal destruction and manipulation of data, and attempts to freeze out dissenting scientists from publishing their work in reputable journals. Furthermore, errors exposed in the IPCC report have only increased public skepticism” In other words global warming is a hoax. And Harry Reid wants to make your life miserable by going along with the hoax and imposing all kinds of punishing and utterly unnecessary restrictions on the American people. The newest threat is the APA bill which the Heritage Foundation says “is a significant tax on energy that would reduce Americans’ income, destroy jobs, and greatly shrink the economy. No amount of protections or rebates would save consumers from skyrocketing energy costs. And worst of all, there would be little environmental benefit to show for it.” All of this rigmarole is designed to curb emissions of Carbon Dioxide – a beneficent natural gas without which life would be impossible. In simple terms, CO2 is absolutely essential to all plant life. Plants absorb CO2 and emit oxygen which we breathe. There is no valid scientific evidence showing there are harmful effects of CO2 yet the warming alarmists seek to convince the world that it is dangerous pollutant. Every time we exhale we emit C02 into the atmosphere. According to 2008 World Bank figures as of 2008 there are a total of 6,697,254,041 human beings on earth. Every time every one of them exhales (and they wouldn’t be among the living if they didn’t)- they spew CO2 into the atmosphere. That’s a lot of Carbon Dioxide floating around the planet and every one of us is allegedly guilty of endangering the planet by exhaling. Clearly somebody’s got to put a stop to it. By putting a stop to a lot of us? As my new Canada Free Press colleague the eminent Dr. Tim Ball has written “The 2007 IPCC Report claimed with over 90% certainty that human produced CO2 is almost the sole cause of global warming. But the evidence shows this can’t be true; temperature changes before CO2 in every record of any duration for any time period; CO2 variability does not correlate with temperature at any point in the last 600 million years; atmospheric CO2 levels are currently at the lowest level in that period; in the 20th century most warming occurred before 1940 when human production of CO2 was very small; human production of CO2 increased the most after 1940 but global temperatures declined to 1985; from 2000 global temperatures declined while CO2 levels increased; and any reduction in CO2 threatens plant life, oxygen production and therefore all life on the planet.” This destructive measure must be stopped dead in its tracks and every Democratic senator up for election in November who plans to vote for the bill should be put on notice that his vote will kill any chances of re-election.
