This year’s host again will be CTF Federal Director, Kevin Gaudet. He will be joined by Porky the Waste Hater (CTF’s tuxedo-wearing pig mascot) and a government waste awards hostess. The waste awards are bronze-gilded pig statuettes awarded in four categories; municipal waste, provincial waste, federal waste and lifetime achievement. This year there are 17 nominees in the four categories. Last year’s winners were: Federal Award Teddy: MP Junk Mail for $10 million of annual spending. Provincial Award Teddy: Outrageous Nova Scotia MLA Expenses including Dance Dance Revolution. Municipal Award Teddy: City of Toronto’s Homeless Audit where people were paid $100 to dress up and pretend to be homeless. The homeless could not apply. Lifetime Achievement Teddy: Gold-plated MP Pensions for the most lavish pension plan in Canada.
