Obama Refuses Open Negotiations with GOP

Somewhere around two to three years ago when the office of the presidency was up for grabs and both major political parties were going after each other with sounds of that old vaudeville song, "I can do anything better than you can" - "No you can't", "Yes I can" and on and on, the big spin was on. The Democrat candidate kept saying that then President George W. Bush kept too many secrets from the American people and as the then Democrat Speaker of the House had promised the public, (failing also) he promised to have the "most transparent White House in history."

Now here it is over two years into that Democrat candidate's successful run for the office, Mr. Barack H. Obama and his record is rather murky as opposed to George W. Bush's transparencies; in point of fact, it is OPAQUE. It is not transparent by any stretch of the imagination or even translucent; his record is impenetrable to light. That applies not just to his personal records but to his entire Administration. So it came as no surprise when FoxNews.com on March 12, 2011, published along with the Associated Press "Obama Tells GOP: Nice Try on Health Care Records", which came about as a result of a brush off as "Republican congressional investigators sought details of meetings between White House officials and interest groups, including drug companies and hospitals that provided critical backing for Obama's health insurance expansion" as cited in the story. 'Transparency'; isn't that what he said? Doesn't transparency in government mean that all records are open and available for inspection? Didn't Obama say quite clearly that his presidency would be the most transparent ever in our history? Clearly, his word is not worth an ashtray full of his dirty cigarette butts. He is an overt as well as covert perjurer; and here I was thinking that we had already had a POTUS who was the greatest liar when Bubba Clinton famously said, "I did not have sex with that woman" among other things for which he was penalized with disbarment from practicing law. But heck, Obama is already in that noteworthy place of dishonor having been penalized for some infraction or impropriety which also will never see the light of transparency. The FoxNews.com article added, "White House lawyer Robert Bauer wrote the House Energy and Commerce Committee that complying with the records request 'would constitute a vast and expensive undertaking' and could 'implicate longstanding executive branch confidentiality interests,' wrote the committee chairman, Rep. Fred Upton, R-Mich., who responded, "The American public deserves the information we have requested. The secret meetings conducted by (White House officials) are a perfect example of why transparency in government is so important." There's that word again; gee, maybe all those high priced crooks and tax cheats in this Administration just don't know what it means. But I'd bet they all know what a 'tax loophole' is, and know how it can be defined and exploited for personal gain. Which reminds me, 'Did all those tax cheats in Obama's Administration pay all those back taxes they avoided paying until caught?' Maybe Committee Chairmen Fred Upton should ask the White House lawyer that question; but that too might also "constitute a vast and expensive undertaking, implicating longstanding executive branch confidentiality interests." Oh yeah! You can bet on that one. The report added that (Committee Chairman) Fred Upton "urged the White House to carefully reconsider, but it's uncertain he'll ever get what he wants. Even if the standoff dramatically escalates to a congressional subpoena, history shows that presidents usually succeed in keeping records away from snooping eyes." It almost sounds like the good (bad?) old days when a common saying was, "There's a whole lot of transparency'ing goin' on around heah. It jes has to stop as it aint' nobody's business but us folks." POTUS Obama totally agrees.
