Batten down the hatches. Prepare for any coming storm

When emergency strikes count on yourself and never the government

imageIn a state of emergency, the school gymnasium or sports arena in Small Town North America, or anywhere in the world for that matter, could be a more sustainable port in the aftermath of the storm. We only have to look at earthquake/tsunami ravaged Japan to know how much more vital shelters could be if they were stocked ahead of natural and man made disasters. With an estimated 500,000 Japanese people housed in in thousands of `shelters’, water, food, medicine, and items like diapers are in critical need.

Governments big on nanny states are against stockpiling and some require public panic for ultimate control. But the custodians of schools, the managers of arenas could stockpile life-sustaining items on the QT. “Hope for the best, but expect the worst” seems to be the slogan of our times. Word chatter following the horrific Japan earthquake one week ago today is dominated by the worry of radiation of nuclear fallout. As Canada Free Press (CFP) reader Sarge in Pennsylvania points out: “It’s economic fallout we should be more worried about. “Japan WAS the second largest buyer of US debt via US Treasuries,” Sarge wrote to CFP this morning. “Japan’s food production was critical. Not only did farmland get flooded, it may now get irradiated with Cesium 137--for three decades.” “The “Fallout” in North America will be economic, not radioactive. Seafood is already going up since their fishing fleets got smacked and Japan supplies 25% of U.S. seafood. The last pre-tsunami shipments hit Long Beach Harbor today.” Sarge’s tip on getting what you need now has roots in commonsense: “Oil shot up today as Gaddafi merrily slaughters his people, threatens an Oil Embargo to the west, and a resumption of their Nuclear Weapons Development. Get what you need before everything gets hideously expensive. Anything ELECTRONIC may get scarce now. TI had production plants in Japan which are now offline.” The combination of natural disasters, uprisings in the Mid-East masquerading as democracy, and plain political tinkering for politicians whose ultimate goal is control of the masses are at an all time high. And now experts following the fearsome Pacific Ring of Fire, predict the possibility of an earthquake for San Francisco within the coming week.

With the UN, their apostles in government and environmental extremists sending out messages of fear with the potential to stampede public panic, it’s difficult to know from which direction the biggest danger is coming. Is the leader of the Western World again thumbing his nose at the little people by departing DC today for five days, including a weekend vacation in Rio de Janeiro followed by a tour of Latin America with his entire family in tow, or is he heading for high ground? Glenn Beck, Neil Cavuto, and even the staid and intelligent Mark Levin are talking about being prepared only making commonsense. “So Barry Soetoro will play the links in Rio whilst Cass Sunstein “nudges” the US closer to the edge and then off the proverbial cliff,” writes Sarge. “Art predicting the future? `Dunno’.” But savvy Sarge is right about the following: “You can’t control what’s happening all over the world, but you can try to control your own small space.” Batten down the hatches. Prepare for any coming storm.
