Rubber stamps and no political oversight for HRT Appointments

Selective Human Rights- Fraudulent Democracy

(Queen’s Park) – The Liberal government is doubling the size of the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal and this spells double trouble for the people of Ontario. In response to a series of hearings this week at Queen’s Park, MPP Randy Hiller has lost faith in the legitimacy of committee oversight when it comes to Government bodies deciding the fate of Ontarians.

The Legislative Committee for Government Agencies, of which Hillier is a member, held multiple sessions this week reviewing 11 of the proposed appointees that will in effect double the size of the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario. Ostensibly this committee scrutinises appointees for competency, conflicts of interest, and for adjudicators – undue bias which may impair impartiality. “The fraud of this exercise was evident this week as not one Liberal member of the Committee questioned any of the appointees” Hillier noted. “The only time the majority Liberal members spoke was to unanimously approve the 11 appointees before committee. The motto otherwise was Liberal silence is golden. Clearly, the outcome was pre-determined and the process legitimises the corrupted outcome for a tribunal that has potentially monumental impact on the lives of our citizens,” Hillier asserted. “Beyond a reasonable doubt, these appointees who hail from only one side of the political and more importantly the professional spectrum, have the capacity to transform a public forum meant to represent all Ontarians into a pulpit for social advocacy without checks and balances. Most of the new appointments have a lengthy history of extreme left wing advocacy without private sector experience. The balance of probabilities is that free speech and expression will be facing extinction while the human rights industry seeks out lofty new utopian heights,” Hillier concluded.
