SAN DIEGO, -- On the eve of two landmark Supreme Court decisions concerning the future of marriage and the family in America, the "Marriage Bow" campaign is being launched around the country as a way for citizens to demonstrate their support for the age-old definition of marriage as being between one man and one woman by writing postcards and wearing a white bow. Not content to take a "wait and see" approach to the imminent rulings by the Supreme Court on the federal Defense of Marriage Act and California's Proposition 8, the designers of the Marriage Bow Campaign are hoping to influence the justices by flooding their offices with postcards and wearing white bows as a symbol support.

The campaign, called God's Marriage Bow, is the brain-child of Dran Reese, President of the Salt & Light Council, Inc. "I've seen the success of prior postcard campaigns that citizens can do from the comfort of their own home or church," said Reese, "and I knew it had the same potential here. But this campaign is much more than sending postcards or wearing a white bow. It's an opportunity to display our public support for "God's perfect design for the family." Marriage and family are among the "non-negotiable" moral values that inspired Reese to launch the Salt & Light Council, Inc., in 2008. That was also the year that California voters passed Proposition 8. Since then, the Salt & Light Council has established Salt & Light Citizenship Ministries in churches in nine states to mobilize Christians to pray and act on prominent moral issues. There are two simple actions of The Marriage Bow campaign: wear a white bow and display it prominently...on your lapel, shirt or jacket, even on your car or tree in your yard; also send a pre-printed postcard to all nine Supreme Court justices asking their support of traditional marriage. "It couldn't be easier, and its free," Reese added. "The website has free downloadable postcards, plus the names and addresses of the justices. We're even posting directions for how to tie the perfect bow." Soon, Reese expects to add bumper stickers to the resources available through the website.
