Sequestration and Government Shutdown

Obama’s Friday afternoon Walkabout Act

Did President Barack Obama’s surprise walk out of the White House Friday to get a sandwich and a spotlight in the ongoing government shutdown have anything to do with CFP’s contention that the 2013 White House is under siege?
In an out-of-the-blue Friday afternoon move, the president decided to take himself a stroll a block up Pennsylvania Avenue to a Taylor Gourmet deli where he bought himself a furlough-discount turkey sandwich. (AP, Oct. 4, 2013) You can’t make these things up and neither can the AP. The CFP story stated that the White House is under siege and has been so ever since the 2013 sequestration.
“The White House is under siege, and has been so since the 2013 sequestration. America’s top tourist draw continues to be held under siege by a malcontent community organizer who claimed the presidency in 2008, and his chip-on-the-shoulder wife.

“Under sequestration even school children cannot get into their White House.  You can no longer get into the White House unless you’re a Hollywood star, a favored world leader, a union boss or activist, unless allowed entry at the express invitation of a covetous Barack and Michelle Obama. “As of yesterday you can’t panic when you come upon a new White House Security random checkpoint—without suffering the loss of your life.” (CFP, Oct. 4, 2013). Accompanied every step along the way on his stroll by Vice President Joe Biden, Obama may have been trying to showcase his walkabout bravery--if, that is, you consider Secret Service agents following on all sides slapping down yellow tape to keep onlookers and anyone else away, real bravery. Obama maintaining top of the class position in the Fine Art of Drama, we’ll never know if the worker on his lunch break who yelled “Hang tough, Mr. President!” as he passed was part of the ‘Friday Walkabout Act’. We do know that Obama referred to the more senior staff deemed essential for White House functions during the shutdown who replaced the furloughed junior aides that accompany him everywhere when he’s in public as, “wranglers”. ...”At one point the president himself intervened to position journalists who were trailing behind with only a view of his back. He stopped and told reporters to get in front of him. (Anyone going to take a bullet, guys, it’s you.) “Let’s go, wranglers!” the president teased his staff.” (AP) Obama’s Friday afternoon walkabout came one day after a woman tried to ram her car through the White House’s outer security perimeter, then led police on a chase down Pennsylvania Avenue toward the Capitol, where she was shot and killed by police. A federal law official told The Associated Press the driver had the delusional belief the president was communicating with her. Readers can depend that when Obama came walking out of the White House yesterday, it was on the far side from where the driver tried to enter. Guess a gloating Obama on walkabout was trying for bravery when he cavalierly explained his choice of wheat bread over white for his turkey provolone. “That way I can tell Michelle I was healthy,” Obama told the cashier as he popped more of the macadamia nut cookie the restaurant offered for free but for which he insisted on paying because he’s not out of work, and proving once again that Barack has more plugs for Michelle than Biden has on his head. Meanwhile the message was delivered that the White House may be under siege--but only for plebeian school kids, tourists and soldiers, not for a president who will do all but stand on his head for public attention. Indeed, you can walk into the White House and you can walk out of the White House anytime you please--if you happen to be Barack Hussein Obama.
