Reid: 'Get over it. It's the law. It's the legacy of Barack Obama and always will be'

You're well aware of the nature of Harry Reid, so it's not like anyone is going to be shocked that he thinks this way. And of course, Reid is not known for restraining his tongue. But isn't it still kind of astonishing, even coming from him, to hear such utter disregard for the real-life hardships being imposed on people because we really need to be thinking about the "legacy of Barack Obama"?

I hate to quote Politico because they are to journalism what Reid is to public service, but sometimes you just have to:

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) has no plans to put legislation on the floor to delay any of the Obamacare deadlines, putting him in line with the White House. But it’s unclear how long Reid can hold off if the administration continues to stumble and pressure grows within his ranks to act in order to protect his fragile Senate majority. One senior Senate Democratic aide predicted that no action on the law would be taken before the end of the year but added that all bets are off if the problems extend into 2014. “If we can’t pivot off this by the new year, then we’re in trouble,” the senior aide acknowledged.

In short, Democrats’ best hope is that the political backlash they are now enduring over the law is the worst it will get. Heading into 2014, when Democrats can only lose five net seats if they want to keep the Senate majority, the party wants to sell a positive story about the law’s successes - and portray Republicans as fixated on recycling old political battles. “Stop carping about this,” Reid scolded GOP senators on Thursday. “Get over it. It’s the law. It’s the legacy of Barack Obama and always will be. Let’s get over this and stop the mischievous, misfortunate speeches out here every day about how bad it is.” Does Reid's world extend at all beyond the the political dynamics of Washington D.C.? Having typed out the question and looked at it on the screen, I realize it's absurd on its face, because of course it doesn't. Reid doesn't care about you, your insurance, your health care or the opportunity to save the life of a single child. He has agendas to pursue and political power to consolidate, and unless you can be helpful to him in any of that, screw you. When you drill down into Reid's mind - if you really want to take that frightening journey - what you will find is the delusion that Republicans oppose ObamaCare just because it was a legislative victory for a Democratic president. The idea that they might want to get rid of it because it's wreaking havoc on the nation in all kinds of ways never enters into the equation for Reid because, let's be honest, he doesn't think about the impact on the nation himself when he pushes legislation through. He just thinks about whether it enhances his own power and that of his party. Good of the nation? What's that? So he projects the same kind of thinking on everyone else. Hey, why don't you just get over it? You lost. It's Obama's legacy. Reid really doesn't recognize any kind of reality outside of crap like this, which is one of many reasons he is a pox on this nation.
