This year’s fall congressional elections are going to be some of the most negative, false and nasty races in our history. Why? Because the Democrats have nothing positive to run on. The nation is a mess! And the Democrats have been in control of the White House, the Senate and the federal bureaucracy for nearly six years.
They can't run on "their" imperial president's leadership because there has been none. They can't run on the success of their policies or governance. And they can't run on Americans being better off today than six years ago, because most people, especially the median income middle class, are not.
But that will not stop Democrats from bashing Republicans at every opportunity, even if they have to distort, deceive, or lie about the truth. It has already begun!
I spoke last week at the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) in Dallas – a conference of state legislators from all over the country. Nearly all Democrat state legislators have stopped attending, because most of the states controlled by Democrat governors and Democrat legislatures are not doing as well economically and fiscally as Republican-controlled states.
They got tired of hearing about how conservative policies were working better than liberal policies. As I have said many times, they can't handle the truth.
So the liberal media and the unions are trying to destroy ALEC and some State Republican legislative candidates with a barrage of negative "hit pieces" in the media, because they now view ALEC as a strictly conservative and Republican organization.
Like most conservative organizations and conservative candidates, they do not have the resources or time to "set the record straight" every time they are hit with a false attack. And the Democrats know this! As a result, many voters don't know what to believe and are not sure who to vote for on Election Day.
That's what the Democrats are counting on! Confused and uninformed voters are the life blood of Democrat congressional candidates, as well as a mainstream media who will look the other way on corruption and cover-ups.
But there is real hope! Undecided and disgusted voters are not stupid! They want and need the truth and the facts! They will then connect the dots for themselves. Loyal diehard Democrats don't even want to know what the dots are!
As Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson and other Founders have said, when people have the right information, they will make the right decisions. Stated another way, when some people know the truth, they will see the light.
That's why every patriotic conservative must be a part of a citizens’ Truth Squad for the upcoming election season. Everyone who wants to promote the truth can do so in their own way. It can be a letter to the editor of your local newspaper, an email to your Congressmen and Senators, a phone call to their offices, or a call to the organization or candidate sponsoring the deceptive and false attacks.
Candidates need to know we are paying attention, and that ignorance is not bliss.
There's a difference between stretching the truth and distorting the truth. And, yes, sometimes Republican candidates do the same thing, but Democrats have taken it to a new level and will consistently do so in the fall elections. We can't follow every one of the 435 congressional races or the dozens of Senate races across the nation, but each of us can follow the congressional district and state in which we live.
In my home state of Georgia, I have already been criticized for supporting the Republican 2014 Senate candidate, David Perdue. It's my right to do so! Just as one liberal website has openly expressed its support of the Democrat candidate.
Some political operatives will try to get their candidate elected at all costs, even if it means distorting the truth. We will set the record straight whenever we can.
Politics is no longer a spectator sport. You have to get in the game if you want real change. Merely being appalled and disgusted with the false and negative campaign ads is not going to change things. Every voice counts, just as every vote counts.
Truth Squad USA must take the field, and take back our government!
