Having learned nothing, Democrats re-elect Nancy Pelosi to captain their Titanic

During the midterms, conservatives watched in horror as Nancy Pelosi led her party to a stunning victory in the House of Representatives. Pundits assumed it was impossible, but she applied her grace, intellect, and sharp strategic skills. By the end of the night the Democrats had retaken the lower house. While we're upset about this, we can't help but be impressed by her clear thinking and her deft maneuvering.
Oh wait. None of that happened. The Democrats suffered debilitating losses and - barring some unforeseen chaos - it's unlikely that they have a prayer of controlling the House before 2022. Pelosi's strategy of ignoring the oncoming train didn't work, and her failure was pretty spectacular. Had it gone the other way, the Dems decision to re-elect her as House Minority Leader might make more sense. Fortunately, they've learned nothing from their recent failure, as The Politico reports:

House Democrats on Tuesday reelected Rep. Nancy Pelosi to serve as minority leader for another two years. The 74-year-old California Democrat - in power for the last dozen years - will once again try to regain the House majority in 2016. Pelosi was unopposed in the election and earned broad support from the Democratic Caucus despite grumbling from some lawmakers that Democrats needed a new message to excite voters after a devastating Election-Day loss.
Wait. Dems are "grumbling" that they need a "new message?" why? As far as we're concerned, Nancy did the perfect job throughout this election cycle. She ignored the warning signs, pretended her party's policies were popular, whistled past the electoral graveyard, steadfastly claimed that Dems were going to win, and then lost in spectacular fashion. That sounds like the perfect Democrat minority leader to me.
