'Better than anything any of us are doing'

Rachel Maddow jealous of research, credibility, and production values of ...The Daily Show

Rachel Maddow is jealous. When it comes to delivering the news, there's a show out there that is putting her network to shame. ...And she knows it. According to the liberal host, when that show does news, it's "better than anything any of us are doing." She also lauds their top notch production values, research, and credibility, all of which are apparently superior to what she's offering on her own show.

Unfortunately, she's talking about The Daily Show which, as Jon Stewart will tell you, is nothing more than a comedy show which delivers "the fake news." In essence, Maddow is lamenting the fact that she's being "out-newsed" by someone who isn't even really delivering news. As the last few weeks have shown us, the NBC News organization has severe, and obvious, problems meeting even basic journalistic standards, but still... How sad is it that "the smartest person" in "all of journalism" can't drag her show up to the bar set by a sarcastic comedian? We're sure the folks at MSNBC aren't inclined toward introspection. Al Sharpton's continued employment serves as proof of that. However, if they were, they might ask themselves a simple question: "Is it possible that our lack of research and credibility is why we're struggling to hang on to a meager total of 55,000 viewers?"
