What bias? Stephanopoulos defends Clinton Foundation on show, fails to mention he's a major donor

What bias? Stephanopoulos defends Clinton FoundationOn April 26, ABC News chief anchor George Stephanopoulos interviewed "Clinton Cash" author Peter Schweizer. During their back and forth, Stephanopoulos repeatedly pressed his guess about the lack of a "smoking gun" which would prove an inarguable link between Clinton Foundation donations and favors from Hillary Clinton's State Department.
Unfortunately, what Stephanopoulos failed to mention is that he's a major donor to the very Foundation he's so eager to defend. As the Politico reports:
ABC News chief anchor George Stephanopoulos has given $50,000 to the Clinton Foundation in recent years, charitable contributions that he did not publicly disclose while reporting on the Clintons or their non-profit organization, the On Media blog has learned. In both 2013 and 2014, Stephanopoulos made a $25,000 donation to the 501 nonprofit founded by former president Bill Clinton, the Foundation's records show. Stephanopoulos never disclosed this information to viewers, even when interviewing author Peter Schweizer last month about his book "Clinton Cash," which alleges that donations to the Foundation may have influenced some of Hillary Clinton's actions as Secretary of State. In a statement to the On Media blog on Thursday, Stephanopoulos apologized and said that he should have disclosed the donations to ABC News and its viewers.

Oops! Sorry. According to Stephanopoulos, he thought his donations were a matter of public record.
"As George has said, he made charitable donations to the Foundation to support a cause he cares about deeply and believed his contributions were a matter of public record," the network's statement read. "He should have taken the extra step to notify us and our viewers during the recent news reports about the Foundation. He’s admitted to an honest mistake and apologized for that omission. We stand behind him."
Here's the clip: ...And they ARE a matter of public record - if you dig through the Clinton Foundation donor list to find his name. So, in a way, ABC's chief anchor is right. His support of the Clinton Foundation (as well as the Clintons themselves) is an easily discoverable fact. Which - if anyone still believes that the media is supposed to be unbiased - should be a huge problem for ABC News. How, exactly, can anyone take seriously ABC's coverage of the 2016 election cycle when their chief anchor is so obviously in the back pocket of the Democrat candidate? Remember, this isn't just about charitable giving. Stephanopoulos was the communications director for Bill Clinton's 1992 Presidential campaign and, after Clinton won, served as Senior Advisor on Policy and Strategy as well as White House Communications director. He was an integral part of the Clinton machine throughout Bill's ascendency and first term. Now, ABC wants us to ignore that and - against all logic - believe that George Stephanopoulos is some kind of impartial observer? Insanity. Anyone who thinks that Stephanopoulos will be anything other than a shill for Hillary's presidential bid is either woefully deluded, or has a rather large screw loose.
