“Ted Turner, the Atlanta broadcasting entrepreneur, announced yesterday the formation of the ''Better World Society,'' an organization that will produce ''global television programming'' about the environment, nuclear arms control and overpopulation. (New York Times, June 12, 1985) “At a news conference in midtown Manhattan, Mr. Turner said that his company, Turner Broadcasting System Inc., had pledged at least $500,000 to finance the society's first year. “Four of the society's nine board members joined Mr. Turner at the news conference at the New York University Club on West 43d Street. They were Dr. Russell Peterson, president emeritus of the National Audubon Society; Dr. Julia Henderson, a consultant on world population; Yasushi Akashi, under-secretary-general of the United Nations, and Dr. Rodrigo Carazo, former president of Costa Rica and president of the U.N.-chartered University of Peace in Costa Rica. “The other board members are former President Jimmy Carter; Lester Brown, founder of Worldwatch Institute; Gro Harlem Brundtland, chairman of the World Commission on Environment and Development; and Jean-Michel Cousteau, executive vice president of the Cousteau Society. “Mr. Turner said he decided last year to found the organization with Dr. Peterson because important global issues ''were not being addressed and people were not being informed about them.'' The society, a nonprofit organization, will seek financing from foundations, corporations and individuals to produce, promote and distribute programs around the world, he said. “As he has done in the past, Mr. Turner criticized the three commercial television networks, ABC, CBS and NBC, for neglecting programs about nuclear, environmental and population issues. He also criticized advertisers who, he said, avoid programs about issues like nuclear destruction but ''don't have a problem sponsoring 'Dynasty' when the whole cast gets blown away.'' “Programs produced by the society will be offered to commercial and public broadcasters in this country and around the world, including the Soviet Union, with which Turner Broadcasting recently concluded an exchange agreement, Mr. Turner said. “Asked the best way to persuade the networks to take the society's programming, Mr. Turner said, ''Huh! One way is to get one of them.'' In April, Mr. Turner announced a $5.4 billion bid to take over CBS Inc. His application to operate CBS's television and radio stations has been submitted to the Federal Communications Commission. “Mr. Turner said that the programs produced and distributed by the society would focus on solutions to world problems. ''All the solutions are readily available,'' he said. ''The solution to the arms race is 'Stop it'; the solution to the nuclear threat is 'Get rid of nuclear weapons.' '' “The programs will advocate a point of view, but will be nonpolitical, Mr. Turner said. ''We don't think it's a left or right deal,'' he said. ''I have a new political philosophy. I'm a conservative liberal; I'm liberally conservative.''When agents of change like Turner says things others think of as crazy, they don’t pay attention to what they’re really up to. Turner’s plans for forcing sustainable development on the world through mass media indoctrination is more evil than crazy. If mass media and the money to pay for it could put same sex marriage on the same legal footing as one-woman-one-man marriage in Ireland, think what it can do for the UN’s long coveted dream for One World Government. The millions of dollars pumped into Ireland overseas from billionaires at Atlantic Philanthropies lured thousands of ex-patriot to fly back home to cast their vote in a one-day referendum. Reading about the referendum in the news media, the thousands who flew in on Referendum Day were part of the landslide 61-39 vote. The Atlantic Philanthropies-galvanized gay rights movement are already boasting that Italy is next. Mass media and the money to pay for it is the tsunami that washes away all principles, values and opposing views. Meanwhile, for the many who suspected the U.N. had ambitions to enslave society, it’s now official.
