The "inevitable" backtrack

After calling for investigations - Hillary releases video defending Planned Parenthood

As you know, Hillary Clinton and Planned Parenthood have a long, mutually idolatrous relationship. Sanger is one of Clinton's heroes, and Clinton is often lauded by the baby-crushing organization Sanger founded. So, when Hillary Clinton labelled the Planned Parenthood undercover videos "disturbing" and called for investigations into not just PP but the entire abortion industry, I was surprised. Democrats simply do not target their favorite baby-parts supply company.

At the time, I suggested that Ms. Clinton's aides were probably scrambling to come up with a plausible way to backpedal. It took them five days. Apparently, evil Republicans want to defund Planned Parenthood as part of their supposed never-ending effort to destroy women's health. Hillary wants you to know that she proudly stands with those who have been caught selling aborted baby pieces. She will work tirelessly to make sure that Planned Parenthood continues to receive your taxpayer dollars, and she has no intention of letting the GOP force you to "go back." Obviously, this was designed to shift the focus away from what she said last week. However, despite the video's anti-Republican nature, they're not really the target here. Hillary's true goal is to eliminate yet another reason for Democrats to turn their backs on her. Just as her people were scrambling to backpedal, you can bet your bottom dollar that her primary opponents (announced or otherwise) were scrambling to prep the "Hillary targets Planned Parenthood" attack ads. Considering her continually plummeting favorability ratings - even with her base - this reeks of "too little too late."
