Jorge Ramos - more activist than reporter.

Trump boots Univision anchor from presser - 'he was ranting and raving like a madman'

"You haven't been called...go back to Univision." That was the message from Donald Trump shortly before Univision anchor Jorge Ramos was booted from a Trump presser yesterday. Ramos hadn't been called on, but was determined to ask his questions regardless. To that end, he decided to talk over the reporter who'd been given the nod. After a few seconds of back-and-forth security escorted Ramos from the room.

Trump tried to claim - briefly- that he didn't order the reporter ejected, but let's be real. It's pretty clear that his sideways glance is what put security into action. He should have owned it - immediately. Here's the original clip, via CNN:(scroll down for video) During an interview with ABC, Ramos expressed his dismay, saying:
"What I would expect is that I can ask a question as a journalist because that's our responsibility and I would expect Mr. Trump to answer honestly about what he really wants to do because he hasn't given us specifics. I saw your show on Sunday. You pushed him on how he's going to deport 11 million undocumented immigrants and he didn't answer your question and he didn't answer mine. What I didn't expect is to be thrown out of a press conference. Never in my life, and I've been a journalist for more than 30 years, I've been thrown out of a press conference."
Ramos then admitted that he's really more activist than reporter by claiming he has a responsibility to "take a stand" and criticize the "dangerous words and extreme behavior of Donald Trump." ...Which, of course, is exactly not the job of someone claiming to be unbiased. "I think the best journalism happens when you take a stand," Ramos said. "And when it comes to racism, discrimination, corruption, public life, dictatorship or human rights, as journalists, we are not only required but we are forced to take a stand, and clearly when Mr. Trump is talking about immigration in an extreme way, we have to confront him, and I think that's what I did yesterday." ABC Latest News | Latest News Videos Today, the Donald is refusing to back down. During a telephone interview with Matt Lauer this morning, Trump said: "He was totally out of line last night. I was asking and being asked a question from another reporter. I would have gotten to him very quickly. He stood up and started ranting and raving like a madman." Here's the problem with all of this. Ramos is painfully biased and, yes, he has an obvious axe to grind. He's pro-illegal immigration and there's no way he can deny it. ...But he also (possibly accidentally) has a point. Trump's campaign has, thus far, been blissfully free of specifics. Trump's announced a lot of conservative-friendly goals, and he's promised that he's the man who can achieve them, but he's not giving us much in terms of a blueprint. I'll be the first to admit that watching him go to war with America's self-righteous media is a lot of fun. In the end, though, he's just throwing a bunch of red meat talking points to the base. He's outlined all of the things that he thinks need to happen, and he promises that "only Donald Trump" can get them done. That's great, but Trump supporters need to notice something. When you ask him "how," the subject changes and the bravado seems to dry up pretty quickly.
