If you want to find some sort of silver lining in the cloud of America's exploding cultural insanity, consider: The sort of stuff that conservative cartoonists would five years ago have depicted liberals doing, they're now doing for real. Speech codes have actually been around for awhile, but it was only a matter of time before they took aim at specific outrages that offend their widdle sensibiwiddies, like the use of pronouns that oppressively acknowledge there is a distinction to be made between males and females.
He and she? You are no longer needed in the hallowed, liberal halls of, er . . . Harvard? Yale? Cambridge? Try the University of Tennesee, sillies:

The university assures us all that this is not mandatory. It's just a suggestion, you understand. If you've spent any time at all on a college campus, you understand how these "suggestions" work in the environment of the campus culture. Use he or she in front of your sociology professor and see what happens. Let it slip out in conversation with the official, self-appointed gender activist and brace yourself for the browbeating.
Speech mandates on college campuses work pretty much the same way they work on the Internet. There's no official sanction for saying the wrong thing, but just try it and see how the Fascists of Acceptable Expression pounce. No one but the most determined activist out to make a point would determine that it's worth the trouble.
You want to think the use of "ze" is so silly that there's no chance it will catch on beyond sensitive little flowers like that Planned Parenthood fan in the video. But hey. Bruce Jenner just got a "courage" award from ESPN for putting on makeup and growing boobs. Are you sure America's ability to discern and identify silliness is still a thing?
