CNN: Rand Paul's presidential campaign is 'officially on death watch'

We're going to ignore the unseemly, obviously biased, glee with which they deliver this news. We're also going to gloss over the fact that, if the phrase 'death watch' had been applied to Hillary, liberals would spin it into wishful thinking on the part of evil conservatives who want her to literally die. Since we're not progressives, we'll just look at the facts and say this: When CNN claims that Rand Paul's campaign is "officially on death watch," they're probably right. Barring a miraculous turnaround, Rand Paul's campaign is nearing the end of the road. From CNN:

The size of the field probably has something to do with it, as does a seemingly unfocused campaign, but the real issue boils down to money. Like it or not, cash has a tendency to buy traction, and there have long been rumblings of fundraising trouble in Paul-land. Almost from day one, people were asking "where are the donors?" For a variety of reasons, the grass roots machine created by Rand's infamous father has failed to generate enthusiasm. At the same time, big conservative/libertarian money (and yes, that partially means 'Koch Brothers support') has failed to materialize. Add to that a few genuine missteps and a lack of a signature issue to define his campaign and you have a recipe for trouble. Paul swears he's not done, and promises that he's "in it to win it" but, if that's the case, he'd better shift strategies. ...Because this isn't going to cut it: If you've read anything I've written previously, you probably know I'm a fan of Rand Paul. Personally, I hope he can find the voice needed to reverse his current fortunes. Politics being what it is, it's not impossible to envision the aforementioned miracle, but it is awfully difficult.
