We the people. Who are we? What kind of nation have we become? If I may borrow anything from Michael Moore, it would be the title of his book, 'Dude, Where’s My Country'?
The entire Democrat Party has gone socialist. For those older folks who are accustomed to more traditional terms, that means Communist. The moderates are long gone. Almost the entire Democrat Debate was about pandering to whomever. The loudest applauses came from the most generous promises. The nation has become conditioned to accepting handouts from politicians who are only seeking one thing…power.
For half of the people of this nation, their only interest in government is what they think they are entitled to from the treasury. Look at the crowds Bernie Sanders attracts; they are in the thousands.
We have a president that sold us on his Christianity and then celebrates Ramadan, protects Muslims and ignores Christians & Jews who are being murdered around the world. He never goes to church, insists that statues of Jesus and other Christian symbols be covered with black sheets when he makes a speech in a Christian setting. And yet, most people wouldn’t dream of questioning his religious sincerity. It would, after all, be rude.
Since Obama took office: The national debt has doubled in seven years with a U.S. debt to GDP ratio at an astounding 101%, with nothing to show for it. Some 76% of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck. Racism hasn't been this bad since the turmoil of the sixties. Gas prices have risen from $1.85 to an average of $3.53 a gallon. Over 100 million Americans are enrolled in at least one welfare program, according to the U.S. Census. The Middle East is in shambles and ready to explode. Health insurance costs have risen 30% while Americans still think that having health insurance means getting health care. Our military is a fraction of what it used to be and yet we live in the most dangerous times since World War II. Russia, China and radical Islam have seen fit to roam the planet seeking whom they may devour, with little or no resistance.
There is the Republican Party, a traditionally conservative, time-honored anti-slavery political party that is in disarray. Much of the party has seen the electoral shift from conserving American traditional values to tearing down every institution that made this country great. And, instead of holding the line, they are joining them…anything to win an election.
We no longer demand honesty, integrity or even discernment from our leaders or even ourselves. Any politician that would promise a mere climate of opportunity would be run out of town. Obama and political pundits tell us that Obama could win a third term if given the opportunity. If true, what does that say about “We The People?”
