Hillary: We're where we need to be in fight against ISIS

What would you think would constitute success in the fight against ISIS? Maybe . . . dead jihadists from ISIS? That would likely be what most normal people would look for as an indication we're getting somewhere. A creature of Washington, on the other hand, would look to something entirely different. For people in this bizarre culture, the key is not so much that you destroy ISIS as that you get pieces of paper signed by people saying ISIS is icky and should please stop. And there is no more dyed-in-the-wool creature of the Washington culture than Hillary Clinton, which is why she actually said with a straight face during Saturday's Democrat debate (yeah, they apparently have those) that we are "where we need to be" in the fight against ISIS because the United Nations recently passed a resolution opposing ISIS.
Yes. She really said that, and that's not all:
Clinton's campaign stood by the comments after the debate ended, arguing that the U.N. resolution is a positive step. But the claim is at odds with public skepticism about the current strategy for confronting ISIS, and marked an uneven moment for the candidate during an otherwise aggressive performance that saw her take on the Republican front-runner. Making an extraordinary claim early in the debate, Clinton alleged that ISIS is circulating videos of Trump’s comments about Islam to recruit more radical jihadists. “He is becoming ISIS’ best recruiter,” Clinton said. The Democratic front-runner did not offer evidence on the debate stage to back up her claim, but it was just one of several attacks from the former secretary of state against the Republican front-runner. While the three Democratic candidates sparred often over gun control and taxes and national security at the debate in New Hampshire, Clinton clearly endeavored to make the billionaire businessman her top target. With the debate coming after Trump stirred controversy with his proposal to bar Muslims from entering the country in the wake of the San Bernardino terror attack, Clinton argued his remarks about Muslims are fanning the flames abroad for radical Islam. “Mr. Trump has a great capacity to use bluster and bigotry to inflame people,” Clinton said. Of ISIS, she said, “They are going to people showing videos of Donald Trump insulting Islam and Muslims in order to recruit more radical jihadists.”

This business about ISIS using Trump's immigration stance as a recruiting tool needs to be dealt with on two levels. In the most basic sense, there's no evidence it's actually true. Who has seen the recruiting tools ISIS has supposedly created using Trump wanting a temporary halt on Muslims coming into the U.S.? As far as any evidence suggests, Hillary just flat out made that up - something we eagerly anticipate the media "fact checkers" addressing. But in a broader sense, this is part of a pattern in which Democrats always make claims like this about any action proposed against terrorists that might actually work.
  • Ban them from entering the country? They'll just use that as a recruiting tool!
  • Blow them up? That will just inspire more of them!
  • Lock them up at Gitmo? You'll squander the world's goodwill!
  • Send troops? Aha! That's just what they want!
Everything real action you could actually take is exactly what they want, but they're going to cower in the corner at a UN resolution? But this is exactly what we would get if Hillary became president. She's become very skilled at accomplishing things that are completely meaningless - like getting a bunch of other countries to sign a resolution that talks big and does nothing. Then she'll go around touting her superior diplomatic skills because she got all these other countries to sign the resolution, but no one is actually going to do anything. They just talk about how they think someone should. So no, we are certainly not where we should be in the fight against ISIS. They still control wide swaths of territory in Iraq, a development made possible by the 2011 withdrawal of U.S. troops that Hillary supporter, and by Obama's continued refusal to consider deploying U.S. combat troops in the fight against them - a position Hillary also supports. And of course, they're now sending operatives to commit mass murder in Paris while inspiring knockoffs to do the same in the U.S. But as far as Hillary Clinton is concerned, we're exactly where we need to be in the fight against these monsters because the UN passed a resolution. Leave aside for a second the e-mail server and all the shenaningans with the Clinton Foundation money. Just based on the way this woman thinks, you really want her as your president? Really?
