It would seem that if you’re already a president, your children are off bounds to the smears of yellow journalism. But if you are only running for Republican candidacy to represent the party in an upcoming presidential race, your little ones can be depicted as ‘trained monkeys’. It’s Christmas time for children everywhere other than at the Washington Post where the seven and four year old daughters of Senator Ted Cruz were fair game for cartoonist Ann Telnaes until public disapproval stepped in. Ted Cruz, of course, is the primary presidential hopeful that Republicans join Obama’s Democrats in hating.
When the senator released a video ad showing him reading political messages to daughters Caroline, 7, and Catherine, 4, Telnaes twittered from the top of her tree: @TedCruz has put his children in a political ad-don’t start screaming when editorial cartoonists draw them as well”. So much for the Christmas spirit, and respect for girls from the Hilary Clinton-sympathetic Washington Post. You can be artistically creative and get away with it if you’re one of the candidates who happens to be sanctioned by the politically correct lib-left, but not if you are a conservative with school age children. Beltway politics is a bloodsport that doesn’t care how young its chosen victims are. “Politico reported the Cruz children monkey cartoon was in response to an online ad released by Cruz's campaign that depicted him reading politics-related Christmas stories to his daughters.” (Fox News, Dec. 23, 2015)

Just as Obama misses much of the news because he doesn’t watch cable television, the Post’s editorial page editor, Fred Hiatt, claims he didn’t see the cartoon before it was published. “As of midnight Wednesday, the webpage where the cartoon by Ann Telnaes had been shown was replaced by a note from the Post's editorial page editor, Fred Hiatt. (Fox News)
"It’s generally been the policy of our editorial section to leave children out of it," Hiatt wrote. "I failed to look at this cartoon before it was published. I understand why Ann thought an exception to the policy was warranted in this case, but I do not agree."
Talking from both sides of one’s southend, Politics 101! The Dems’ bogus Republican ‘War on Women’ includes everyone other than seven and four year old innocent little girls. It’s only two days before Christmas and this year only Hillary Clinton gets to sit on Santa’s knee. Meanwhile, Yes, Caroline and Catherine, there really is a Santa Claus, but not over at the Grinch-like Washington Post.
