VIDEO: Oregon's 'anti-gay' bakers read lovely tweets from oh-so-tolerant liberals

If you want to measure the methods of fascism, it's hard to top a $135,000 fine imposed on someone simply for declining a small piece of business that presents a faith conflict. But I think the secular left has it in mind to wield an even more lethal weapon than that, which is to turn Christians into modern-day Hester Prynnes. Not only are you going to get labeled as a bigot, but you're going to be a constant target of mockery and ridicule from people who believe they are morally superior to you. It doesn't appear to be working with Aaron and Melissa Klein, who recognize the anger and hatred behind it and appear to feel some genuine pity for the people who feel the need to act like this. As is so often the case, the Daily Signal presents the story to us in striking terms:(Scroll down for video)

Remember when liberals used to complain about self-righteous, sanctimonious, holier-than-thou Christians acting like they were better than everyone else? Remember that? Just kidding! Liberals still make this complaint, which is kind of hilarious considering that at the very same time they're happy to not only pile on the likes of the Kleins but engage in the sort of abuse and name-calling that would be unimaginable coming from anyone merely standing up for a moral or biblical principle. But that's sort of the point, isn't it? It's not only OK for them to do it, it's important for them to do it, because people like the Kleins represents a real threat to them. If their commitment to biblical morality were ever to prevail in modern culture, then the secular left (or so they fear) would be forced to operate inside moral constricts that would take away their pleasure. That is the greatest evil imaginable to them, and because they're convinced that is what victory for the likes of the Kleins would look like, there is no insult that goes too far, no form of abuse that's over the top, nothing not worth mocking. Even trashing the First Amendment as the State of Oregon has done with its fine is perfectly OK because the targets of the action don't deserve constitutional protection. And all this because they politely told a potential customer they would have to look for someone else to bake a cake. That's what justifies all this in the eyes of the secular left. You tell me: Do the Kleins seem like the kind of people who deserve that kind of treatment? Then again, is it even legitimate in a civilized society to pass such judgment on anyone? Clearly the answer is no, which leads to the unmistakable conclusion that we've ceased to be civilized.
