“Obama’s Plan Will Endanger American Lives”
SACRAMENTO – Move America Forward - the nation’s largest grassroots pro-troop organization – is warning Americans that President Obama’s plan to close the terrorist prison in Guantanamo Bay is dangerous and irresponsible.
Obama’s administration has created a draft presidential order that will close Gitmo and bring terrorists to America, according to news reports.
“We warned President Obama that closing Gitmo would be a disaster for America and could endanger our country,” MAF Chairman Melanie Morgan. “Obama swore to protect our Constitution, which means his top responsibility is to protect the American people. It is shocking that one of his first actions would be to close a prison that keeps Americans safe from admitted terrorists.”
Closing Guantanamo Bay would be a complete disaster for U.S. security. The prison keeps admitted terrorists and would-be mass murderers behind bars and closing the prison, which is a humane facility built specifically to house terrorist combatants, tells the world that Obama does not have faith that our troops in Guantanamo Bay served with honor.
“Not one American serviceman or woman has been charged with crimes in Guantanamo Bay, and we know that the military does police its own. We saw that in the Abu Ghraib scandal,” Morgan said. “Obama is sending the wrong message to our loyal troops by moving to close Gitmo. Instead, he needs to stand up to the America-haters and his friends on the left and make the tough decision: Keep Gitmo open.”
A contingent of representatives from MAF just returned from a visit to Guantanamo Bay and saw firsthand the prison where the admitted mastermind of 9/11 is held. While there, the MAF delegation found absolutely no evidence to corroborate claims by some that detainees at Gitmo are ever abused or mistreated. Instead, they found Gitmo to be a well run facility of vital strategic and intelligence-gathering importance.
“I looked into the eyes of the terrorists inside the prisons and watched as one made threatening throat-cutting gestures,” Morgan said. “We know that at least 10 percent of released Gitmo inmates return to terrorism. Does Mr. Obama want to endanger our troops fighting radical jihadists just to pacify his European buddies and radicals who don’t care about the safety of our troops?”
Obama should go to see Gitmo or send a top aide to visit the facilities before making a rash decision to close the prison. Unless he does this, Obama will be making an uninformed decision that will taint his first days and hurt America as she defends herself from radical Muslim jihadists.
