Wow: If that's how you feel, lady, there's the door. Don't look back.

Poor Hillary: This is so hard for me because all I ever wanted to do was support my husband

To start with, the question was ridiculous. The guy wants to know how she stays humble - I know, really - while running for president, being famous, etc. So she launches into this three-minute thing that's designed to convince us that maybe Bill always wanted to be president, but not her. She just wanted to support her husband but lo and behold here she is. I want you to forget about trying to prove what you think as you watch this, and just trust your instincts as you decide whether she actually means anything she's saying here:
Yeah, the words are good (although if you're going talk about being grateful, it makes sense to mention to object of your gratitude), but as she says the words, does she sound like they're coming from her heart? Or does she sound like she and her campaign staff decided she had to say something that would make her sound more human, and this is what they picked out? You already know what I think because you know what I think about Hillary, but trust your own instincts and tell me. I do want to say this, though, about this business that she never imagined doing this: From the moment Bill took office, she indicated her lack of interest in the traditional role of First Lady and started looking for ways to influence policy, beginning with the health care disaster of 1993-94 and culminating in her decision to run for the U.S. Senate as a carpetbagger in New York before Bill had even left office. Never saw herself as anything but raising her daughter and supporting her husband, eh?

Then what was all the co-president talk about? Why run for president after a mere eight years in the Senate if it's not something you ever wanted to do? Surely there were candidates better qualified. Why, after failing, spend the next eight years positioning yourself to do it again? These are the behaviors of a person obsessed with becoming president, not of someone thrust against her will into the spotlight. Who is it that's clamoring for her to do this? No one. She's only in a position to do it because the Clintons control the apparatus of the Democratic Part and they managed to scare off every other potential contender except a wild-eyed, doddering socialist with nothing to lose. And they're willing to cheat to beat him. Oh, poor Hillary. Never thought she'd be doing this! If that's how you feel, lady, there's the door. Don't look back.
