It feels like I write this once a week but, again, they "think they've got him." Just the other day they thought "they had him" with the tax return reveal. That turned into an absolute left-wing debacle which ended up embarrassing scores of journalists, pundits, prognosticators, talk show hosts, and a certain MSNBC anchor.
Now, they think they've "got him" again. They're salivating over the moment - which they're sure is coming - when President Trump recants his claim that the Obama administration wiretapped Trump Tower. Who knows? They may get their wish. ...But they didn't get it today.
Trump brings up Obama Wiretapping Merkel!
Today, Trump doubled down.
During a joint appearance with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Trump caused an audible gasp (and lots of laughs) when he announced that he and Merkel had something in common.
Specifically, he claimed, they were both wiretapped by the previous President:
This is the sort of thing that gives the press the vapors. They'll whine about how it's gauche. It's just not done. It's an improper and crass breach of etiquette.
What they don't understand is that recent events have a tendency to prove Trump right, so it's also why Trump keeps beating them.
