Pop the corn. It's a one-percenter slap fight!

Obama scores another $400K speaking fee, and multi-millionaire Elizabeth Warren is 'troubled'

Earlier this week, I pointed out the Barack Obama is a filthy one-percenter. That's nothing new, of course. He's been getting rich - by selling class warfare rhetoric and claiming the "rich don't pay their fair share" - for years. Still, considering what a big issue Hillary's speaking fees were in the last election, I wondered when we'd hear from Bernie Sanders. He led the charge against Hillary's obscenely high Wall Street speech fees, so it only made sense that he'd attack Barack Obama for charging $400,000.00 for a similar one-hour appearance. Bernie, after all, is nothing if not absolutely rock-solid when it comes to the unbiased application of his principles, right?
Well, I guess not. As far as I know, Bernie hasn't chimed in. However, pop some corn and prepare to be entertained, because Elizabeth Warren has. From ABCNews:
Elizabeth Warren isn't too keen about former President Barack Obama's $400,000 fee to address a Wall Street conference on healthcare this fall. "I was troubled by that," the Massachusetts senator said Thursday during an interview with the SiriusXM show "Alter Family Politics" on Radio Andy. She then proceeded to discuss her disdain for "the influence of money" in the nation's capital.
If she was "troubled" before, she must be really upset now. It seems the former President has scored ANOTHER $400,000.00 speaking fee.

From the NYPost:
Even as President Obama faced criticism for getting $400,000 for a speech to a Wall Street bank, he pocketed the same amount of money for a second speech, The Post has learned. Obama made another $400,000.00 on Thursday when he appeared at the A&E Networks advertising upfront at The Pierre Hotel. He was interviewed over 90 minutes at the Midtown Manhattan event by presidential historian Doris Kearns Goodwin in front of the cable network’s advertisers.
Well, a 90 minute interview. That must have been exhausting. Oh, by the way, Warren's bank account is pretty impressive as well. She likes to put on the "blue collar working stiff" routine, but she's a one-percenter herself. Back in 2015, CNN Money reported the following:
Warren, the Harvard bankruptcy law professor elected to the Senate in 2012, is worth between $3.7 million and $10 million. That's not including the three-story Victorian home in Cambridge, Mass., that she owns with her husband and fellow Harvard law professor, Bruce Mann. It's now assessed at $1.9 million, according to city property records. While she's not in the uppermost wealth echelon of Congress, she's not doing too badly either. Roll Call recently ranked her the 76th wealthiest out of 541 senators and representatives, based on her minimum net worth in 2013.

But please, don't turn around a pretend that you're anything other than the rich fatcat you claim to despise

More recent (and slightly more nebulous) reports suggest she's now worth upwards of $15 million. Once again, we feel compelled to remind you that we like wealth. Successful people should be able to grab whatever the market will bear. If you can demand - and receive $400K for a speech? By all means, you'd be a fool not to take it. ...But please, don't turn around a pretend that you're anything other than the rich fatcat you claim to despise. The shtick is getting really, really, old.
