That didn't take long: Looks like Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va) just put a nail in the ObamaCare repeal coffin

Whelp. That was quick. It's only been a few hours since we heard about Mitch McConnell's latest plan to dump ObamaCare, and already we have one Republican stepping forward to make sure we know she won't play ball. Say hello to Shelly Moore Capito, Senator from the great state of West Virginia. She's issued the following statement:
For the record, Shelly Moore Capito is one of the Republicans who had the courage, bravery, and vision to vote for a clean repeal in 2015 - when she knew full well that President Obama would veto her efforts. As Dan pointed out a short time ago, Mitch McConnell's "straight repeal" has turned out not to be entirely straight, using the House-passed AHCA as a default replacement plan if no other arrangements can be made inside of two years. It's not 100% clear if Capito's statement is based upon the idea of a pure "straight repeal" or if it takes the AHCA stipulation into account. ...But I'm not sure it really matters. Given what she says in her tweet, it seems hard to believe that she could support any healthcare bill that legitimately reduced or eliminated the expense and intrusive federal overreach associated with ObamaCare. As Allahpundit notes over at HotAir: Donald Trump "won Capito’s home state by 42 points last year." West Virginia is about as far from being a "battleground" as you can imagine. If McConnell can't get her on board with a repeal effort that she previously supported, how in the world does anyone think a repeal, or even "repeal and replace" effort can be successful? Remember, you have to add Capito's name to a host of other former GOP-tough-guys who will similarly waffle when things get real and the heat is on. Capito's stance may seem like a minor irritation, but it means they'll never get to 50 votes (let alone 60) because a few more of these spineless squishes will always back away from their responsibility. While we're sure Ms. Capito's now-inevitable primary challenger appreciates all the work the Senator is doing to craft her opponent's eventual attack ads, we'd much rather see her get on board with at least one of the myriad repeal efforts.
