Ezra Klein: What Obama meant was if you lose your plan you can get another one

I never cease to be amazed by the thinking among the punditry that Ezra Klein is some sort of whiz kid. It seems to be one of these ideas that gained momentum for an unknown reason and just snowballed. You read his "Wonkblog" in the Washington Post, you see his TV appearances, and he comes off as that smug, prissy liberal who is always raising his hand in Political Science 305, and is way more impressed by his own rudimentally knowledge than he ought to be. But everyone keeps muttering about how "bright" he is even as you shake your head and wonder what's making them say that.

White House: OK fine, Obama actually lived with that Kenyan uncle we said he'd never met

I have to admit I really haven't been following this story - the one about Obama's illegal alien uncle from Kenya who is not going to be deported because, I guess, they only do that to mothers of three from Albania. But to the extent that they were addressing it at all, the White House had been claiming that Obama had never even met the man.

Why ObamaCare could burn liberalism to the ground

As we watch the implosion of ObamaCare, it's striking how completely unprepared Democrats were for what's happening. It's not that no one warned them premiums would go through the roof, people would lose their coverage, people would lose their doctors, young healthy people would have little incentive to sign up. Conservatives spent the past three years predicting all of this.

D'oh! HealthCare.gov apparently generating incorrect information about users

So you decide it's time to get health insurance from that ObamaCare. You go on HealthCare.gov, create an account, enter your information, pick out a plan, calculate your subsidy if applicable . . . hey, it's government health care at its finest! You log off and post on Facebook that ObamaCare worked great for you, and three cheers, you're now covered!

WSJ: Obama's FTC now going after evil capitalist piano teachers

I bet you didn't know the kindly old lady who taught you piano when you were 9 was actually part of a nefarious price-fixing scam that threatened the economic well-being of consumers everywhere. But don't worry. The federal government is on the case, as Kim Strassel reports in Potomac Watch column for the Wall Street Journal:

Obama tells Baba Wawa: Hey, I've got nowhere to go but up!

I actually admire a person who is willing to think positively in the face of swirling disaster. Sometimes people make the mistake of thinking a leader is "in denial" when he's actually trying to keep his focus on ways to solve the problem.

Iran's president: We will never stop uranium enrichment

What's really maddening about this story is not that Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said it, nor that he means it. You expect both of those. What's really maddening is that John Kerry will sit there and tell you this is all perfectly fine because it's within the framework of the deal he negotiated. Which it is, which is why the deal is so foolhardy. Voice of America reports:

So that story about the lesbian waitress getting stiffed was totally fake

There's one born every minute, and apparently plenty of people are only too willing to believe that judgmental Christians are out there looking to spew their vile hate. So when lesbian waitress Dayna Morales came forward with the claim that some customers had refused to tip her, and written on the check that it was because they disagreed with her gay lifestyle, lots of people were willing to believe it.

Obama, Kerry capitulation to Iran condemned by just about everybody

How do you change the subject when your signature legislative "achievement" is blowing up in your face and proving to be a disaster for the nation? I guess there's only one way, and that's to perpetrate a foreign policy mistake that could prove to be an even bigger disaster.

Dana Perino's untold tale of Bush on leadership and forgiveness

I'm off to Chicago shortly to spend a day chaperoning a bunch of eighth-graders going to see the Chicago Symphony and a whole lot of other Chicago-ish things. Fortunately my wife is part of the chaperoning group as well. They told us to prepare for a day of walking, which I did yesterday afternoon by letting myself get roped into an hourlong game of full-court basketball with some big Scandinavian dudes. So yeah, this should be interesting, and I won't be around to do any writing today.

VIDEO: George W. Bush on Leno, just so you remember a real man as president

There's no sense pretending this is anything other than what it is. I present to you a taste of what we had not all that long ago, and for the most part failed to appreciate as we should, so you can compare this man's honesty and sense of perspective to the narcissistic poseur who is in the Oval Office today.

Obama: 'I've got one more campaign left in me' . . . to save ObamaCare

I guess this was inevitable. The web site doesn't work, contrary to what he promised. People's premiums are soaring, contrary to what he promised. The vaunted (and desperately needed) young healthies are not signing up, contrary to what he projected. People's existing plans are being cancelled, contrary to what he assured everyone. And the health insurance industry, which thought it was getting a sweetheart deal by supporting a law that would mandate people buy its services, is looking at an existential crisis.
