I suppose there could have been no other outcome. Either he was going to off himself or he was going to die in standoff with police. He didn't seem like the kind of guy who was going to give himself up out of prudence because he valued his life.
The report is he was spotted by policy in Erie, Pennsylvania and killed himself as the cops attempted to arrest him.
