As food prices continue to squeeze the western world and food insecurity looms, the purchase of 370 acres of farmland in North Dakota by Chinese conglomerate, Fufeng Group, raises national security concerns from those on Capitol Hill. A report released in May by the US-China Economic and Security Review Commission examined China's interests in US agriculture and noted the parcel's close proximity to Grand Forks Air Force Base, which sits about 12 miles away.
