First Nations generating billions in revenue, often from sources other than natural resources VANCOUVER—First Nations across Canada are generating billions in revenue for themselves—and not only from natural resources, finds a new study released today by the Fraser Institute, an independent, non-partisan Canadian public policy think-tank. “First Nations are finding new and unique ways to generate income for their members that don’t necessarily rely on natural resources,” said Tom Flanagan, Fraser Institute senior fellow, professor emeritus of political science at the University of Calgary and co-author of Bending the Curve: Recent Developments in Government Spending on First Nations.
