There was a time when you could, almost, make a case for John Kasich's presence in the 2016 race. That time was over a long, long, while ago. Other than his win in Ohio, he'd been a non-presence for months. Either he was hoping for a miracle, looking for a VP spot, or - as CNN argues - simply acting as a spoiler against Donald Trump.
