Unlike some of my conservative colleagues, I'm not entirely sold on what we've been shown of the President's new tax initiative. I'm squarely in what's generally considered the middle class and, as far as I can tell, it will end up raising taxes for myself and my family. I'm willing to wait and see how it all shakes out before passing final judgment, but I'm not going to support any tax plan that doesn't represent an across the board cut for ALL Americans.
Republicans have control of both houses, the Presidency, and enjoy a favorable Supreme Court, yet they're fighting for a progressive tax scheme and a budget that contains little or nothing in the way of cuts? To me, that smells suspiciously like the kind of small ball we've come to expect from the current crop of congressional squishes. I have no intention of beating the tax reform drum just because "we need to do something."
