As I was reading this, the question that came to my head was this: How many liberal activist groups these days are anything more than nuisance groups - people who basically just # very loudly when someone says something they think they can portray as outrageous, or even just when someone on the other side of the spectrum shows up somewhere, and that gives them something to yelp about?
It seems to me that MoveOn.org crossed that line long ago, if they were ever on the other side of it in the first place. This is classic. Donald Trump hosting Saturday Night Live? We can't have that! Oh, and why not? SNL certainly tends to lean left but it has never been the official and exclusive domain of liberal politics, nor has it ever shied away from personalities that aren't universally loved. Having Andrew Dice Clay as host in 1990 cost the show Nora Dunn, which was no great loss if you ask me, but producers didn't back down from Dunn's protest because SNL has never been and can never be about sanitizing the cast and the content so as not to offend. Once that happens, you've lost your edge and you're no longer Saturday Night Live.
