Hon. Kathleen Wynne, Premier of Ontario;
Hon. Glen R. Murray, Minister of the Environment and Climate Change, Ontario,
Dear Premier Wynne,
Dear Minister Murray,
As of January 1st, 2017, consumers of carbon-based energy in Ontario are forced to pay for a “Cap and Trade” surcharge of approximately 5%. This additional levy on electricity, gasoline, diesel, and natural gas will reverberate throughout the province’s economy and raise all prices and costs, including food, heating, commuting, etc.
Your claim that this new levy “… is designed to help fight climate change…” is a hollow ruse to extract more revenue from the already financially strapped resident people and companies of this (formerly) great province.
