Just watched the old Jimmy Stewart movie, "Far Country", in where a crooked judge robs gold prospectors (and cattle ranchers) by abusing his authority. After he forces them out of their livelihoods, he has his thugs bushwhack and murder them as they try to leave with whatever treasure they have left. It's strange how this latest move by Newsom echoes this classic film.
