Back in 2013, when GOP members threatened a federal shutdown, they were called "terrorists" and "hostage takers." Brian Williams famously carped that “All kinds of people are getting cheated out of salaries, benefits, medical treatment.” That, in true Williams fashion, was a bald-faced lie, but it was the narrative the entire left-wing media decided to run with.
