Many North Americans are infected with tunnel vision and erroneously appear to believe that turbine generated energy is somehow linked to reversing the growth in and impact of Green House Gas (GHG) emissions.

For a truly bleak acreage scenario, look up the Princeton / Andlinger Net-Zero America 2050 wind & solar map, showing the full scale of development required unless nuclear power replaces these sprawling eyesores.

I think the sheer physics of energy production will make nuclear mandatory and give it the lion's share of subsidies which it currently lacks. Wind power is said to be relatively inexpensive minus the context of subsidies, which Obama jump-started with the PTC.
