FoodSafety.gov implores Ted Cruz and you: The end of a machine gun isn't a safe place to cook bacon

Rob found the Ted Cruz machine gun bacon video funny enough, although he's concerned that Cruz is trying a little too hard to come off as a fun guy at the expense of talking issues. I concur, especially after Cruz's stock rose considerably in my eyes with his broadside against lying liar Mitch McConnell on the Senate floor the week before last. But here's one thing you can always count on: The left has no sense of humor whatsoever, and if you're not careful they'll get the government food safety Nazis after you! Now just to be clear, it was not anyone at the USDA or any other government agency that went after Cruz for food safety apostasy. It was Britain's left-wing Guardian newspaper, which contracted FoodSafety.gov via an online chat to inquire about the safety of cooking bacon on the end of a machine gun.

And if that alone doesn't offer the quintessential representation of the humorless left, it's hard to think what would (See Below) FoodSafety.gov implores Ted Cruz and you: The end of a machine gun isn't a safe place to cook bacon What really gets me here is that, had the left wanted to come up with a truly witty rejoinder to Cruz's video, I'm sure they could have. But what did they do? Tell on him to the proper food safety officials. That'll show Ted Cruz to try to be funny! If there's a serious political lesson to be learned here (which I tend to doubt), it's probably this: Cruz is not going to convince the left and the media, which has already decided he's an ogre, that he's a cool and fun guy no matter what he does. All the Simpsons imitations and machine gun bacon videos in the world can't make them like him because they don't want to like him. Their rejoinders might be sad and pathetic (as this one certainly is), but what they will never do is concede the guy demonstrated any sort of appealing qualities whatsoever. He threatens their access to political spoils, and they hate him for it. Nothing will ever change that. And if he thinks stuff like this is going to get him any sort of respect with the political media, he's kidding himself. I still thought the video was kind of funny, but if Ted Cruz wants to be our next president, he can only do so by taking what he is - a thorn in the side of the establishment - and riding that full-speed through to victory.
