Reason: Make it harder for a "moderate Republican" to win.

WikiLeaks: Hillary pressured Illinois to change its primary as a 'political favor'

We already know that the Clintons and the DNC conspired to rig the Democrat primary race. I guess Clinton cheating quickly qualifies as "old news" and gives the media an excuse not to talk about it. But did you know that Hillary tried to rig the Republican primary race too? Then again, why should that surprise you? Of course she would, if she could. And according to the latest release from WikiLeaks, she thought she could:
Hillary Clinton’s campaign tried to move the Illinois presidential primary to a later date, saying a contest held after the Super Tuesday primaries might stop momentum for a moderate Republican candidate and emphasizing that Clinton and her husband “won’t forget” a political favor, emails made public on Thursday show.
A November 2014 email hacked from the accounts of Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta was among nearly 2,000 new emails published by the anti-secrecy group WikiLeaks. The email, from Clinton’s future campaign manager Robby Mook to Podesta, said Obama administration officials should use their connections in the president’s home state to try to push back the March 15 Illinois primary by at least a month. “The overall goal is to move the IL primary out of mid-March, where they are currently a lifeline to a moderate Republican candidate after the mostly southern Super Tuesday,” Mook wrote. “IL was a key early win for (GOP presidential candidate Mitt) Romney” in 2012. While the request would come from Obama, the president and former Illinois senator, “the key point is that this is not an Obama ask, but a Hillary ask,” Mook said. “The Clintons won’t forget what their friends have done for them,” he added. Clinton and her husband, former President Bill Clinton, famously gave special attention to allies considered “friends of Bill.”

The most hilarious thing about this is that Hillary's campaign thought they had to emphasize the request was not an Obama imperative, because Obama's name is mud in Illinois. At any rate, the request went nowhere. It's not that easy to reschedule a primary, and Hillary surely knows that after all the years she's been in politics. It says a lot about the Clinton political mindset, though, that they believed they could send an e-mail to political operatives in Illinois and make this happen. And let there be no doubt: Hillary's people thought they would be in trouble if they were facing a "moderate Republican," whoever they may have had in mind (presumably Bush or Kasich), and if they could get their Democrat allies in Illinois to do anything that would tip the scales in favor of Hillary's preferred general election opponent, they were going to do it. There are some who are poo-pooing this today, claiming it's nothing more than a political campaign doing political campaign things. But you know it's more than that. It's Hillary using any leverage she can, fair or unfair, to her political advantage. If that's what she does now, as a candidate, what do you think she would do as president? Many people say you can't elect Donald Trump because he doesn't know enough about governing. What Hillary knows about governing is how to pull crap like this, and given the chance, she will do so every time to her own advantage. That's why it's far more dangerous to elect her than it is to elect him.
