‘Master of ‘Disaster’ John Boehner Back from the Ironing Board

Oy Vey! Just what the world needs:  ‘Master of Disaster’ former House Speaker John Boehner saying President Donald Trump’s time in office has so far been a “complete disaster”.

Boehner copies to a T, his golfing buddy former President President Barack Obama in stubbornly refusing to go away when his time is up.

Trying desperately to hang on to a position no longer theirs makes both Boehner and Obama look downright ridiculous.

Just in case you care to know, the former Republican House Speaker approves of Trump’s approach abroad and his aggressiveness in fighting Islamic State militants, it’s only everywhere else that he considers Trump an unmitigated “disaster”.

To Carry a Gun

One of the great freedoms I can now exercise since leaving California is the right to own and carry firearms (keep and bear arms), which the Constitution guarantees the government will not even touch (infringe).  Of course they do, especially in California and other liberal states.  But in Florida, you can apply for a concealed carry weapons (CCW) permit, and if you meet the standard eligibility and criteria, take a class, pass a background check, and demonstrate a working knowledge of handguns including a practice shoot, you get a CCW.  That was the easy part.  What no one tells you, is that actually carrying a gun in practice is very different from the theoretical discussions we all have with ourselves and others before actually carrying a gun.  And it has some amusing aspects.

The first question is which one are you going to carry?  So you go to the gun safe and look around, and realize that in a predominately non-carry, communist state like California, the guns you can own are both limited in capacity, and design.  That’s because California has a government approved list where most models are at least 10 years old or older, and they have not kept up with concealed carry trends.  If you can only use guns at the range, then your guns tend to be larger target guns, rather than carry guns.  Then you have to think of whether to carry a heavier and wider, steel, 5-6 shot revolver, or a double stack magazine, 10-15 shot, light polymer, semi-auto pistol.  No brainer there.  I’m using a pistol.  Then you have to think which pistol is the most reliable, will save your life, that you can use quickly, and won’t weigh down the pants.  Given this criteria, I go with the Glock.  Don’t leave home without it, to quote an old advertising phrase.

Three Anti-Trump Leakers Identified, Referred to Proper Authorities, Expected to Be Fired Soon

At least two separate news organizations are reporting that three distinct leakers have been identified at the White House and that President Donald Trump is expected to fire them when he returns from his first overseas trip.

“CBS News has confirmed from two sources that three leakers of classified information at the White House have been identified and are expected to be fired,” CBS News reported this week, adding, “Officials within the Trump White House believe leaks of Mr. Trump’s conversation with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov are a ‘deliberate attempt’ by officials who are holdovers from President Obama’s administration and are trying to damage the Trump presidency.”—More…

Hillary Clinton Lashes Out at Press and ‘Sexism’ for 2016 Loss, Claims She Beat Trump

The Philosophic Roots of the Paris Agreement: Deep Ecology vs. Human Progress

In his essay “The Church of Environmentalism,” Jeremy Carl told the story of Julian Simon participating at an environmental forum.

“How many people here believe that the earth is increasingly polluted and that our natural resources are being exhausted?”, Simon asked. After a roomful of hands were raised, Simon then asked: “Is there any evidence that could dissuade you?” After silence, he followed up: “Is there any evidence I could give you—anything at all—that would lead you to reconsider these assumptions?”

After more silence, Simon answered: “Well, excuse me. I’m not dressed for church.”

Open Letter to President Trump

Mr. President:

With all due respect for the person of Pope Francis and the Petrine Office he holds, we urge you not to read the encyclical letter Laudato Si given to you by the pope during your recent Vatican visit, as it is a masterpiece of New Age deception which advocates a borderless one-world government under the governance of a “world political authority.” Its whole point is to place man in touch with his environment. It builds its bridges to the planet, not to Almighty God, and as such, cannot be instrumental in advancing world peace.

The encyclical was actually written by the pope’s ghost writers Archbishop Victor Manuel Fernandez Guttierrez and Bishop Mario Toso for the purpose of spearheading the U.N. “Sustainable Development Goals” of making “Mother Earth” a safer place through population control (abortion). The encyclical’s vehement fight against man-made climate change has earned it enthusiastic acclaim from the very people [globalists] that have been battling you since the day you announced you were running for president.

Toyota Prius C a cheap and cute way to save gas

It’s pretty Spartan, all things considered, and it’s about as much fun to drive as a hobby horse, but Toyota’s 2017 Prius C hybrid hatchback is still a decent little car that does a lot with a little. And, at a starting list price of $21,975, it doesn’t cost a huge amount of cash to save the Earth.

On the other hand, you could buy a gas-fueled 106 hp Yaris SE five door hatch with an automatic transmission for about $19,510, sans taxes, fees and other kilos of flesh. The Yaris probably won’t get the excellent 4.5 litres per 100 km that I achieved in the Prius C (despite my lead foot), but Toyota claims 7.9/6.8 (City/Hwy) for the Yaris, which is still darn good. And the Yaris is a heckuva lot more fun to drive, if only because it doesn’t come with a whiny continuously variable transmission.

Sure, you’ll be poking the Al Gores, David Suzukis and "Science Guys" of the world in the eye, but how is that a bad thing?

Fist Fight offers good audio and video - but that doesn’t help

If you like your comedy movie foul mouthed, mean spirited and populated with sexual predators, Fist Fight is for you. But if it’s representative of today’s comedy films, I weep for popular culture and the society it supposedly reflects.

Rocky or Fight Club it ain’t!

Fist Fight is set on the last day of school, also known as Prank Day, when the students perform pranks on the faculty. Judging by the pranks, these students put a lot more effort into this day than they do into their studies. On the other hand, I think if these folks were my teachers I’d have played hookey a lot more than I did in my misspent youth.

Another ‘revenue neutral’ carbon tax that’s anything but

(This column originally appeared on the Huffington Post blog)

Did you really believe them when they said it would be revenue neutral?

Last week, the Trudeau government announced a ‘technical paper’ on its proposed federal carbon tax which suggests it will mimic Alberta’s carbon tax plan, quashing the optimism of those who believed the federal government when they said their carbon tax would be revenue neutral.

More Obama Holdovers Flushed Out of Jeff Sessions’ Justice Department

After both the director and deputy director of the Executive Office of Immigration Review (EOIR) resigned Friday, Attorney General Jeff Sessions named James McHenry acting director.

Director Juan Osuna and Deputy Director Ana Kocur, both appointed by former President Barack Obama, announced their resignations Friday in an email to all EOIR employees, according to a report in Politico. No reason appears to be given for their resignations, but the pair reportedly will depart the agency, which oversees all the Department of Justice’s immigration judges, at the end of the month.—More…

Harvard Law Journal: Unborn Babies are Constitutional Persons

“Harvard law journal: unborn babies are constitutional persons.” So reads the surprising headline on the press release from the student-run Harvard Journal of Law and Public Policy. In a provocative article, law student Joshua Craddock fires a challenge not only at pro-choice orthodoxy but at mainstream pro-life thinking. He declares both “constitutionally unsound.”

Edited by Harvard Law School students, the journal describes itself as “the nation’s leading forum for conservative and libertarian legal scholarship.” New Supreme Court justice Neil Gorsuch’s article on assisted suicide first appeared there. Ted Cruz was an executive editor.—More…

Obamacare repeal will be hard and McConnell just made it harder

Sigh. Just when I’m about to give Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) the benefit of the doubt, he opens his mouth. On Wednesday, McConnell threw cold water on Obamacare repeal by saying that he didn’t see how the Senate was going to do it.

It was clear during the fight over the Supreme Court nomination of Neil Gorsuch that McConnell handles political strategy the way Mayor Bill de Blasio handles police controversies. When Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-People’s Republic of China) threatened to filibuster Gorsuch, McConnell should have responded by threatening to nuke the filibuster for all laws and nominations. This might have gotten Schumer to back down. Instead, McConnell did the equivalent of shaking his head at Schumer and saying, “That’s not very nice.”

MEDIA LOVES NEW ORLEANS MAYOR STILL FIGHTING CIVIL WAR

As the Robert E. Lee monument was being removed last Friday, New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu gave a victory speech to a select group of supporters at Gallier Hall, ironically, a former slave auction house.

In the last week, the speech received lavish praise from the liberal media, both locally and nationally. Landrieu received glowing tributes throughout the mainstream news media, from the pages of the liberal Times Picayune in New Orleans to the editorial page of the liberal New York Times.

In fact, on Sunday, Landrieu will achieve the ultimate award bestowed to a liberal politician, an interview on NBC’s Meet the Press.
