Emma Stieber Unemployment is approximately 10% in the United States with the “actual unemployed” rate at approximately 16%. The Democrats, as usual, fail to recognize the unintended consequences of their policies.

What happens on Monday when business owners return to work to learn that this healthcare bill is going to cost them another $100 million in the first year as Illinois based Caterpillar announced on Friday?  Businesses have been hit hard over the past couple years and are standing on the fence that has failure and success on either side of it.  Which side do you suppose businesses are going to be forced to choose come Monday? Lose their business by trying to absorb the astronomical costs mandated by the federal government at a time they are barely "swimming", and at times close to drowning, or lay off more employees and try to get by with less workers?   It is becoming very clear after speaking to business owners that we are about to see unemployment rise as a result of this "healthcare" bill.  With that being said, what do the Democrats believe is going to be the result of this...a historic healthcare bill?  I agree that it will be historic in the sense that if unemployment were to rise another 3-5% and the actual unemployed percentage were to rise another 3-5%, we would be as close to the great depression as ever before.  There is even the possibility that we could reach the numbers of unemployed individuals we experienced during the great depression.  Do the Democrats not know this? or do they not care?  BUSINESSES CAN NOT ABSORB MORE COSTS RIGHT NOW! I have yet to hear any politician come out and talk about this immediate and dire situation.  Why is there not one person out there screaming about the most immediate and problematic concern lingering post this healthcare bill?  WE CAN NOT AFFORD FOR ONE MORE PERSON TO LOSE THEIR JOB!  I want to urge all politicians, commentators, and media to use their voice to prevent this catastrophe.  Can someone please explain to these leaders that they are walking us into the danger zone?  Can someone please educate the left-wing ideologists that this bill is not going to create fairness...it is going to create more discord and less fairness?  Our nation is comprised of all kinds of systems and they interact for better or for worse.  If more people are unemployed, there is less money to fund the programs we have now due to less people paying taxes.  If you want to hurt the middle class and the poor, pass the healthcare bill!  Rich people will almost always stay rich…it is the middle class and the poor that are going to get hurt in all of this. For instance if Caterpillar has to lay off more people and other businesses follow suit…there are going to be less people paying taxes and less overall prosperity in our nation to fund the programs we have already.  Just in case no one has noticed, the programs we have for the poor and middle class are already unfunded leading to states like California going into bankruptcy and Illinois not too far behind.  If you believe in equality and prosperity for all, this is not the way to get there.   I believe strongly in social justice and I want everyone to have health insurance/ healthcare, but this is not the way to accomplish this.  The economy is very fragile right now and this maneuver could easily push us over the edge.  Please consider sharing this and helping people understand that even if you believe the healthcare system is not fair or reasonable right now...please don't allow the government to go about fixing it in a way that will only create more problems for all United States citizens.  JUST A REMINDER....IT TOOK TEN YEARS TO GET OUT OF THE GREAT DEPRESSION! madison4121973@aol.com
