The Goodfellas style of government

Susan Rice is Obama’s new National Security Advisor. No surprise there….

Today, Barack Obama selected Susan Rice, the U.N. Ambassador who tried desperately to sell the Obama administration's initial lie about Benghazi, to be his new National Security Advisor. She replaces the retiring Tom Donilon, who, judging by the state of our international affairs, has done a bang-up job.
Of his new appointee, The President said "Put simply, Susan exemplifies the finest tradition of American diplomacy and leadership." Apparently, he's also pretty impressed with her tennis and basketball skills, saying that "She has a great tennis game and a pretty good basketball game." Thank goodness the important stuff is covered, right? While watching Obama's speech, I was immediately reminded of a scene from the movie Goodfellas. In it, a young mobster has been busted for the first time. He faces some heat in a trial overseen by a crooked judge, and is released. His gangster pals are there to greet him, and his boss, Robert DeNiro, stuffs a huge wad of cash in his pocket.

"What for?" he asks. "I got pinched." "Everybody gets pinched, but ya did it right," DeNiro replies. "Ya told 'em nothin' and they got nothin'. I'm proud of you! You took your first pinch like a man, and you learned the two greatest things in life. Never rat on your friends and always keep your mouth shut." From then on, the young gangster is on his way to the heights of thug power. Here's C-span's coverage of the Rice appointment.

Oh wait, I'm sorry, that was still Goodfellas. It's an easy mistake to make. Here's the C-span clip, try not to retch.
