Apparently, Samantha Power is a big fan of Hanoi Jane

U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations opens speech by honoring Jane Fonda

When, in the wake of the Benghazi scandal, Susan Rice left her post as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, we all hoped her replacement would be ...a bit more competent. This week her successor, Samantha Power, dashed those hopes. Power spoke Wednesday in New York, where she was addressing the United Nations Association of the USA 2013 Global Leadership Awards.
Before getting to the meat of her remarks, she made sure to praise one of her heroes, whom she had evidently met backstage.
“Hi everybody,” Power began. “You know life has changed when you’re hanging out with Jane Fonda backstage. There is no greater embodiment of being outspoken on behalf of what you believe in — and being 'all in' in every way — than Jane Fonda. And it’s a huge honor just to even briefly have shared the stage with her.”
Yes, the Obama administration's hand-picked UN Ambassador decided that the best way to launch a speech was by praising an American traitor. Keep in mind that Fonda was never your average, run-of-the-mill, liberal. The actress was a committed commie who used to roam around American universities saying "If you understood what communism was, you would hope, you would pray on your knees that we would someday become communist. I, a socialist, think that we should strive toward a socialist society, all the way to communism."

Oh wait. ...Maybe she is a run-of-the-mill liberal. Of course, that was in the late 60's, just before she began her modeling career in North Vietnam... Many in the mainstream media are suggesting that Samantha Power, who was born in 1970 - two years before Hanoi Jane was recording anti-US radio propaganda in North Viet Nam - may simply be too young to be familiar with Fonda's activism. It's the ultimate cop-out. Either Power is aware of it and just condoned it, or she's unaware of it, and has virtually no knowledge of very recent American history. Ignorance or agreement. Take your pick. The truth is that Fonda is probably indicative of exactly the kind of progressive activist the Obama administration loves: a famous pseudo-intellectual who spouted deeply anti-American diatribes until someone taught them how to play a more subtle, sustainable, game. That one of our top ambassadors is willing to publicly - and gleefully - praise a woman with Fonda's traitorous background speaks volumes about the administration as a whole.
