Feds not ready for ISIS in Texas, but Sheriff Gary Painter is

President Obama promises to "degrade" ISIS, whatever that means. They cut off people's heads. We respond by "degrading" them (and never with boots on the ground, unless we do, or something). I would feel better if we heard the sort of seriousness from Obama that we hear from Sheriff Gary Painter of Midland, Texas:

I think I'm going to move to Midland! Sheriff Painter offers a refreshing honesty in dealing with some reality the White House prefers to avoid. Such as: We still have no control whatsoever of our border. Not only are there spots along the Rio Grande where there is no border patrol whatsoever, some of those spots don't even have any water in the riverbed. Anyone can just walk right across. Some of Obama's friends on the left are making fun of Sheriff Painter and the idea that ISIS could be a threat to cross the border and pose a threat to the United States. (They also mock our friends at Judicial Watch for being more inclined to believe their own sources than the government concerning the possibility that ISIS is already poised to cross the border. That should tell you everything you need to know about Wonkette - such brave purveyors of satire who believe everything the government tells them!) Whether or not we have absolute, incontrovertible evidence that ISIS is in Juarez or anywhere else, a serious administration would be treating the possibility as if it is real, and would be tightening security at the border accordingly. But that is not the kind of administration we have. The only good news here is that the largest state bordering Mexico happens to be Texas, which is unafraid to take matters into its own hands and protect the border itself if the federal government won't. And it won't, because if you secure the border and keep ISIS out, you also keep out lots of future Democrat voters and rob Democrats of a useful mid-term election issue to use in appealing to Latino voters. For the White House, politics is always the priority. For Sheriff Gary Painter, the security of Midland County - and by extension, the nation - is the priority.
