When you're looking for someone who can intelligently discuss the world of international espionage and Edward Snowden, there's at least a small chance that choosing someone with the Twitter handle "@fart" is a mistake. No, scratch that, there's a 100% chance that it's a mistake. Apparently, there's also a 100% chance that the fine folks who run CNN's sister network, Headline News, will make that mistake.
Yesterday, during a segment discussing Snowden's new Twitter presence, the Nancy Grace network featured a guest named "John Hendren." Evidently, they thought they were booking an Al Jazeera journlaist of the same name. They were not. This John Hendren is a comedian who lamented the fact that Snowden was "created on top of a mountain by Vincent Price." He then suggested that it's wrong of us to "cast him out" just because we're scared of Snowden's ability to destroy waterbeds with his scissor-fingers.
...And the "journalist" conducting the interview took absolutely no notice of the fact that she was giving airtime to a troll who was talking about Edward Scissorhands, not Snowden.
This is epic trolling. Once again, as you watch, keep in mind that HLN's crack investigators missed the fact that this guy's Twitter handle is "@fart."
We could make a serious point about how ridiculously vapid the mainstream media has become, but let's face it. "This," at least in part, "is CNN." We've known how worthless they are for a long, long, time.
