A last Hurrah

Most satisfying outcome of yesterday's election is the resultant end of Mrs. Pelosi’s speakership along with the change in Committee chairmanships from Democratic to Republican which on the Hill is no small thing. Those chairmanships are where the real power on Capitol Hill lies.

50 Years & Counting

imageFifty years ago today - Thursday October 28, 2010 - I was counting the final days until the Presidential election between Dick Nixon and John F. Kennedy was to take place on November 8th, 1960. I was just 34 years old and it was my first foray into national politics. Prior to that campaign all my efforts had been at the local level such as Congressional contests or just plain grass roots politicking, and I had thrown myself into my job as assistant to Jack Styles who headed the Nixon/Lodge Registration and Get-out-the-vote project. My work was just about done and my teeth were on edge since I was convinced that that election might be considered the most important in my lifetime and that the fate of the nation hung in the balance.

The Lady is no Tramp

She’s no Joan of Arc, brazenly presenting herself before her King and informing him she’d been sent by Divine authority to save his throne, but in presenting herself before Delaware’s voters, Christine O’Donnell has shown herself to be made of the same courageous stuff as the Maid of Orleans.

Disintegration

Fans of the Buck Rogers comics will recall that his favorite weapon was the Disintegrator – aim, fire and demolish. It’s beginning to look as if someone has aimed such a weapon at the White House.

Are We Really All That Stupid?

It is fashionable in left wing circles to depict their fellow Americans as stupid ... Too dumb to know what is good for them. Given that assumption, it is only obvious that the small number of leftist elites are obliged to do our thinking for us.

Get Off Her Back

After a rough and tumble primary contest Delaware’s Christine O’Donnell emerged victorious over a Republican member of Congress whose voting record had to have endeared him to Nancy Pelosi. His voting record marked him as the ultimate RINO (Republican in name only).

How About Some Old Ideas?

Republicans are about to fall into an old trap cleverly set by the President. It concerns what in my days on the Hill was known as CRAP - the Constructive Republican Alternative Program - and Mr. Obama and his fellow Demagogues - oops, I mean Democrats - simply lust over the thought that House Minority leader John Boehner falling for it anew.

It seems that a Republican takeover of the House is already seen as a fait accompli with a similar result in the Senate a remote possibility.

Just what is Barack Obama?

There's something of a modest firestorm building over the question of Barack Hussein Obama's religious faith. Some insist on taking his word that he is a Christian while others say he is, like his father and his Kenyan relatives, and his step-father, a Muslim

Anybody who accused members of the media of being little short of dedicated advocates of the liberal propaganda machine and adjuncts of the left wing of the Democratic party were routinely dismissed as right-wing nuts.
