Words have meaning. A word is a unit of language, consisting of one or more spoken sounds or their written representation that functions as a principal carrier of meaning. Rush Limbaugh is a master of the English language in my opinion on a par with Winston Churchill and is the undisputed American master of quips, labeling, and metaphors.
As if to prove the point, Rush has once again coined a phrase that sums up a cultural phenomenon. He has dubbed those Progressives embedded within the federal bureaucracy the Deep State. This label perfectly describes those protected by the civil service acts as well as those political appointees who might be termed BHO holdovers.
The American Revolution changed the world. Our Declaration of Independence proclaims self-evident truths. That all men are created equal, they’re endowed by their Creator with unalienable rights, among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. These words shook a world held in the vise grip of hereditary privilege inspiring people around the globe. Our Constitution established a representative federal republic with a limited government of the people, by the people and for the people.
Just look at the hysterical reaction to President Trump’s long anticipated executive order to limit the admission of refugees from seven countries.
How do leaders in Muslim countries see it? According to United Arab Emirates Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, “The vast majority of Muslims and Muslim countries have not been affected by this ban. This is a temporary ban that will be reviewed within three months. It’s important to take these points into account.”
Not too long ago, I began a science fiction novel, which has always been a dream of mine, and since I finally broke through the fiction wall last year with my book, America’s Trojan War, I thought it was time. I even had a plot that had been rattling around in my mind for years.
I began working in what I call Writing Mode, which is where I go when consumed with the writing of a new book. Typically I will rise at about four in the morning and write for twelve hours, sleep and repeat until done. Building on the years of pre-writing and research that precedes the first chapter, I often stay in continuous Writing Mode for weeks at a time.
I know the snowflakes and their geriatric leaders are freaking out because they have lost the keys to the gravy train. However, out here where Americans work every day to pay the bills our President, The Donald isn’t waiting to take the oath to fulfill his oath to us.
You want some fake news? I’ve got some fake news for you right here.
The GOP has no plan to replace Obamacare. That is the headline the Corporations Once Known as the Mainstream Media try to scare the low information voters with. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Long ago and far away, back in an America before Hope and Change changed our hope to dread, we used to have peaceful and dignified transfers of power when one party replaced the other in the Oval Office. When Bill Clinton and Ross Perot defeated George the First he left Bubba the following note:
I think one of the hardest things about growing old is that you can remember what a pound of hamburger cost fifty years ago ($.45), so when the government assures us over and over there is no inflation we sort of get a disconnect going that seeps into many different areas of our lives.
Wise men say that History repeats itself. Those who have studied the facts and lived long enough to get a seasoned perspective understand that if it doesn’t repeat itself it sure does rhyme. Which leads me to an observation made by every generation since time began; every generation believes that the one following it is made up of a bunch of molly-coddled softies who will obviously allow the world to go to hell in a handbasket. As a still surviving though somewhat battered member of the boomer generation I am beginning to think that when the Greatest Generation thought this about us they may have been right. By every metric imaginable, except of course technological toys and wonders, we have presided over the decline of America.
The recount in Wisconsin and the coming ones in Michigan and Pennsylvania will not change the outcomes in any of those states. Even though the party of Mayor Daley, Boss Tweed, and their big city machines are famous for winning recounts by finding bags of votes in candy store basements no recount has ever changed thousands of votes let alone tens of thousands. I do not believe changing the outcome is the purpose. It is instead changing the perception of it.
I predict that they will demand the recounts are done by hand. This would make them take so long these three pivotal States would not certify their results by the last day possible for directing their Electors how to vote. If all three states miss the deadline, Trump is at 260, Hillary at 232. No one hits 270.
I was a house painter for many years. In a profession famous for drunks who show up late, finish late, and inflate prices in between, I found that if I did what I said I was going to do when I said I was going to do it for the price agreed upon, I never ran out of work. As a matter of fact I was always the highest priced and most sought after painter in every market I ever entered with a six month waiting list and satisfied customers.
Without hope you’re hopeless and I refuse to allow the unbelievable changes currently assaulting our economy and our political system to bring about my own personal Great Depression.—Do You have Hope?
Marching out of Yorktown to surrender the British Army played the song “The World Turned Upside Down.” As I drive to Meg Lo Mart to make my latest deposit of monopoly money in a Chinese savings account, all I can do is mumble the final tag-line of the Wicked Witch of the West, “What a world. What a world.”
