Editor’s Note: A second chilling on-the-ground report from Alek Rybczynski, Canada Free Press’ long-time Columnist in Poland.
The siege of the Constitutional Tribunal continues--both physically and politically. In front of the building, patriots keep watch, gathered around tents and media stands--mostly independent ones--known as the “Little Town.” At the same time, the political parties stand like boxers in a clinch, and it seems neither side is willing to yield.
To recap: just before All Saints’ Day, celebrated by all Poles, police and a group of judges stormed the grounds of the constitutional court, usurping the right to remove judges who had been legally elected and sworn in by the President. It is widely believed that the Tusk government’s goal was to subordinate Poland’s highest legal body to itself in order to push through the federalization of the countries of the Old Continent imposed by the European Union.
Krzysztof Bosak, leader of the opposition national party (National Movement within the Confederation), surrounded by other MPs, presented five demands aimed at resolving the conflict around the Constitutional Tribunal: withdraw the Police from the Tribunal building and grounds, unblock the Tribunal’s work and allow the presidents, judges, and Security Service to perform their duties, stop using the Police and security services for illegal actions (do not destroy the morale of the uniformed services or trust in the chain of command), hold accountable those responsible for the attack on the constitutional body--commanders and their superiors, including members of the government--and above all, force the Tusk government to resign.
This decisive tone toward Tusk resonated even more strongly in the remarks of President Karol Nawrocki during the extraordinary session of the National Security Council on November 3, 2026:
“Full responsibility for this entire situation, for every policeman outside the Tribunal, for all the illegal actions such as the suspension of judges, illegal orders, and the entry into the Tribunal from the side of the Prime Minister’s chancellery, rests with one man--the man who is present in this room […] and whose actions I do not understand, do not accept, and against which I am speaking out, namely Prime Minister Donald Tusk.”
He then addressed the Prime Minister directly:
“Mr. Prime Minister, in your case, in my view, this is not only a crime against the Constitution of the Republic of Poland--it is something more. It is a mistake. The Prime Minister already knows he has made a mistake, and both of us also know that today your earlier allies are gone, and all you have left is violence, which is equally disturbing.”
Tusk somewhat tempered his tone after the Council meeting, although earlier he had been emphasizing the threat on the Polish-Russian border and the possibility of armed conflict. This was interpreted as an attempt to use an external threat to suppress all protests and call off next year’s elections.
On the evening of November 3, rumors spread--picked up by all independent television stations and media outlets, as well as citizen journalists on social media--that the government planned to dismantle the “Little Town” outside the Constitutional Tribunal at midnight and introduce martial law or some form of state of emergency. Probably thanks to the public exposure of these plans, no incidents occurred during the night. After all, coups are always carried out by surprise, not announced in the media. Perhaps the opposition, by publicizing these threats, prevented a tragedy. At least for now.
It is hard to predict what will happen next. Poles have lived through another sleepless night.
In the morning, official details were announced of the “Coalition of the Willing” maneuvers (codename KOALICJA 26.2), scheduled to take place in Poland from November 9 to 22, 2026--mainly at the training ground in Nowa Dęba--with the participation of around 2,800 soldiers from 11 countries, including Germany (Bundeswehr: staff officers, A400M aircraft, and logistical support).
The exercises have not yet begun, but the announcement of Bundeswehr participation is viewed very negatively by Poles, whose country was brutally occupied by the German army during World War II. It is hard to believe that the soldiers of the “Coalition of the Willing” are equally willing to push all of Europe into war and head to the real front in Ukraine, where tens of thousands of soldiers are dying every month.
During World War II, millions of people died, and for years the slogan “Never again war” was promoted in every European country. Today we are being told that war is inevitable. Ordinary citizens of Europe and Poland do not want war--they want to live peacefully in freedom and democracy.
The systematic imposition of a totalitarian system and the incitement to war, including consideration of the use of nuclear weapons, will not change this will of the nations. Societies are manipulated, subjected to mind control and propaganda.
We must hope that they will wake up in time and remove from power the madmen who are lining the pockets of military corporations and sending ever new ranks of our children to the front--children they contemptuously call “human resources.” We thought the age of barbarism was behind us, but it turns out the barbarians have seized power.

And the party that fuels her power just regained control of both houses in congress in midterm elections last night.
On the eve of the midterms, Susan Kokinda sets President Trump's final message to Republicans, given to Benny Johnson ("be smart, be strong, love your country"), against Senator Elissa Slotkin's September 30 speech at the Carnegie Endowment, where she called Trump's America "the Titanic", and her stage partner Anne Applebaum's praise for the January 6 hearings as "constructed for television".
