Snowflake liberal parents wig when Ivanka Trump visits their kids' school in Connecticut

Snowflake liberal parents wig when Ivanka Trump visits their kids' school in Connecticut Some months back a liberal friend of mine claimed that Kid Rock was a "snowflake" because he objected to being called a racist by the liberals at Bridge Magazine and the Detroit Free Press. That, I replied, is not what a snowflake is. The liberal friend wanted to know what gave me the right to decide what words mean. Well. Words mean what they mean, not what you want them to mean, but I'll grant you that the use of "snowflake" in this context is somewhat new to the vernacular. He was trying to make it mean anyone who complains about anything. Kid Rock complains that he was called a racist? What a snowflake! But the term snowflake was initially applied to college students who had to run for therapy and stuffed animals merely because someone they disagreed with showed up on campus and said words, or in the most extreme cases, won an election.
You want to see the latest example of a real snowflake? Let's go to Connecticut:
A surprise school visit by Ivanka Trump drew ire from some parents of a Connecticut academy, with one who yanked their child from class to protest the first daughter and White House adviser’s father, President Trump. "This should have been brought to our attention, although I do understand security reasons. I think we should have had the choice to send our child to school or keep them home,” Karey Fitzgerald, a Norwalk Early College Academy parent, told News 12 Connecticut Monday following Ivanka Trump's appearance. “Only one parent withdrew their student for the school day Monday after hearing of the visit,” Brenda Williams, Norwalk Public Schools Chief Communications Officer told Fox News on Wednesday. “With the exception of those who were directly participating, the visit was kept confidential for security reasons, and parents understood that.” Trump, however, seemed unaware or impervious to the complaints. “It was an honor to meet so many bright and talented students!” the first daughter wrote on social media following the visit with students and faculty at Norwalk Early College Academy, as she continues her tour promoting STEM and computer science education in schools across the nation.

Now why would Ms. Fitzgerald expect the option of pulling her child out of school just because a guest speaker showed up? I could see wanting to do something like that if it was, say, Planned Parenthood showing up to teach the kids the wonders of abortion. But Ivanka Trump was there to promote education in science, technology and math. What parent could have a problem with that? But of course, it wasn't Ivanka's message she had a problem with at all. It's simply who she is and who she's associated with. For a liberal parent, the stench of Donald Trump is so odorific that to merely have your child in the same building with someone associated with him is simply unacceptable. And this is how you raise snowflakes. All throughout their lives, your kids will come into contact with various kinds of people. Some they will like. Some they will not like. They will agree with some and disagree with others, but they will not have the option of picking and choosing who they even encounter, let alone have to deal with. Life doesn't work that way. Acting like kids need to be shielded from merely seeing a person of the party you didn't vote for is setting them up for a lifetime of fear and loathing. By the way, what are you teaching kids about judgmentalism when you send the message that they shouldn't even be expected to be at school because a person walked in the building who is a Republican, or who voted for Donald Trump, or whose last name is Trump? If you seriously wonder why so many young people are out of their minds with moral superiority over political opinions, it starts here. Many on the left are so taken with the idea that they and only they are virtuous, they can't even countenance the idea of being nice to a Republican, lest they "normalize" the enemy. This is where they learn it. Kudos to the school officials for not making party or partisanship more important than giving the kids a chance to learn something valuable. And pray for the kids of Karey Fitzgerald that they will learn tolerance and understanding from someone other than their mother.
